In the oxygen gardens Ai is sitting off to the side, she's still in view though and she seems to be staring at a butterfly in her hands. It looks like a real butterfly ...up until it lifts off her hand and then vanishes in front of her.

She watches it fade dispassionately. And then another appears on her hand.

Ai sits by herself again on a garden hill. Only this time she's a little more in the open and also not using her powers. Meeting someone to talk about nightmares. She's distrustful and wary but also tired. She's even more isolated on this ship then she is at home and maybe that's why she's willing to talk to a stranger.

[consequence]

One of the days she ventures into the garden, she doesn't shift into her wolf, she's there to try and help someone else for a change and maybe it's not going to do much, but she feels like she wants to try.

She's not really sure who to look for, but eventually she spots someone that seems to be waiting for someone.

"I'm Hayley," she offers, hoping she's found the right girl.

Ai nods in greeting back.

"I thought you might be. I am Ai."

Exhaling, Hayley offers her a smile.

"It's good to meet you. I'm sorry you've had trouble sleeping. You said you've been having nightmares, though?"

She nods.

"I didn't have to sleep before I came here so I'm not sure how to deal with them anymore."

[consequence]

Hayley's head cants. She's heard of people needing very little sleep, but she hasn't run into anyone that didn't need to sleep at all. It seems unhealthy just by nature, but she has seen a lot of weird things since arriving on this ship. Someone who doesn't need to sleep will just have to be another thing she's seen.

"Why didn't you have to sleep?"

"I was already dead."

[consequence]

Of all the answers she had considered, apparently the most simple hadn't been on her radar. Being dead would definitely mean you didn't sleep, but then how had she dealt with sleeping before she was dead.

"Oh, that's... not what I was expecting. Did you have to sleep before you died?"

[shallbeavenged]

"Yes....but that was over 400 years ago. And I didn't have as many memories."

[consequence]

Taking a breath, it's something she wants to relate to. Her own newfound immortality is something that she's had on her mind for a while. To think that she could survive, that she could endure for so long - would all of her memories remain sharp or would they end up fading? Would her healing make it so that she'd never forget? All of her synapses firing for all of time, keeping her moments in tact?

"But now you have four hundred years of existing and that has to be a lot to deal with. Are your nightmares from certain memories?"

She nods. Well she could just vanish at this point, she did start this to talk about unpleasant memories.

"My death. Hell....and other things."

[consequence]

Hayley knows that it's not the easiest thing to discuss, but she figures that it might help just to start out slow.

"What did you do before you died? I mean, as a job or something."

[shallbeavenged]

Yes....slow.

"I was in hiding since I was seven. The village wanted to use me as a sacrifice but my parents and cousin...hid me from them after they took me to die on the mountain."

[consequence]

"You're very lucky to have family that cares for you that much," she replies.

[shallbeavenged]

"They were killed because of me. ...when the villagers found out what they had done.

I have nightmares of being buried alive again with their bodies. My cousin betrayed me in the end and then ran away.

They killed me and my family. So I came back and killed them all."

This is said with almost serene calmness, but she is clutching her knees so hard her fingers are white.

[consequence]

Hayley notices the tenseness that comes across from the girl. "The feeling of loss, of needing to make things right - I know that feeling." She had blood on her hands as well, the pack that had sold her out - that had traded away the life of her child for their own ability to control their shifting. Something that werewolves had been dealing with for centuries - that had been part of them. To press a value to that, to make it a simple exchange. She didn't regret what she did, but she did feel remorse for the lives that were lost for such a selfish reason.

"Are any of them here?" She tries to press a small bit, just hoping to see if she can try to dispel some of her nightmares with the thought that they won't be here to take action against her.

She blinks slightly because....she never even thought of them showing up here...or what she would do if they did. ....what if her cousin showed up....what if....

She tries to calm herself. Because they aren't here. No one is.

"No. There is no one from my world here."

[consequence]

Hayley nods, "Then that's a start. Knowing that you're safe here, that there's no one that'll wish you hard - does that help ease your mind any?"

[shallbeavenged]

"They wouldn't be able to hurt me if they were here....not physically.....

It wouldn't go well if they did."

She's thinking about this too much now.

[consequence]

"Strength is a good thing to have, but so are people you can trust. The fact that you're talking to me about this - it's a good thing. It might hurt, but it helps to have someone to tell things to."

[shallbeavenged]

She nods slightly.

"Trust....is hard."

[consequence]

"It's not meant to be easy," Hayley replies.

"Nothing worth having is ever easy."

[shallbeavenged]

There's a pause and she nods again. And...

"Thank you."

[consequence]

"Of course," she replies, easily.
