[It would be a lie to say that Jack isn't used to people having this sort of staggering amount of faith in him. Everyone who worked for him at Torchwood does, or at least did, at one point. It's almost overwhelming, because Jack doesn't know if he can live up to it. Of course he'd never willing let anything happen to Rose. But he didn't willingly let anything happen to Tosh or Owen, either. Didn't willingly let it happen to Ianto. And still they all died. He knows that he can't keep thinking that way, that it'd just be an endless spiral of past regrets. He's just got to do everything in his power now to make sure it doesn't happen again.
