... Something is wrong-- very wrong. That's Cassie's first thought upon hearing those words. Loki might have spoken to her like that once, but... they were long past that.

Cassie stands up carefully, perturbed, and makes her way over slowly to where Loki stands the same way you would with a wild animal. Non-threatening. Giving him time to decide what to do. She remembers how Loki was when they first met. How every conversation was like walking on eggshells, and he was like to be fine one moment and then turn around in a volatile temper the next.

There's no recognition in his eyes as she gets any closer. But she had known that would be the case even before she stood up. She had just ... wanted to make sure-- that this wasn't an illusion, or that he wasn't just playing a cruel trick.
