He died.

[ That much was probably obvious, but she's not really sure how to say "he touched a device powered by an ancient race to save the world but also released the bitchiest member of that ancient race when he did it". ]

I guess it might've been electrocution; it just happened, so it's not like... you know, there's autopsy results or anything.
