Eric nods. He could have ended this, and Thranduil's life for that matter, any time that he so chose. But he has not. In fact, he has done quite the opposite, in saving the elf as he has and creating the bond in the first place. To kill him now would go against what he has established. Not to mention that it would not be a pleasant experience for either of them, not when he would be able to feel Thranduil die.
