There are things they can check for, though. Emma and Kate both know how to spot a lie, and I can give them plenty of opportunity. Anytime day or night they ask, they’ll know how many weapons I have on me and where, how much ammunition I have left, where the release on my arm is — anything and everything I can tell them to help take me down in a pinch.
