[ she's not sure if it's a relief or not to see other people with weapons. on the one hand, at least she's not the freak with the machete appearing in her locker, but on the other it either means this place is dangerous (not great) or the people are (even worse). either way, it isn't ideal, but she decides to reserve judgement for now. at least until she's gotten her hair tied, right? she takes the offered handle with a grateful smile, giving her bootlace a sharp tug until there's a decent enough length for the desired purpose before cutting it quick and neat near the eye. she'd have to sort something out for the shoe later, but one problem at a time.
