I gazed a gazely stare at all the millions here
CHARACTERS: Leoben Conoy and Darcy Lewis
LOCATION: Communications
WARNINGS: Violence, crying, hostages, robot logic
SUMMARY: Leoben makes his attempt at securing the former Kara Thrace's network transmissions. In Laura Roslin's place of work.
Everything was exciting, in its own way. The real power was in usurping Laura Roslin's power base and rubbing her nose in it in the process. A ship was the perfect place for him; it had corners, things that needed doing, places to hide but no reason to do so. As a Cylon, what he had to offer far outpaced the risk of employing him to do so, particularly when he approached it as peaceably as he did. And okay, he'd held Laura hostage, but judging by the ruckus at the most recent jump, violent newcomers were a common enough occurrence.
But his only interest and investment was in Kara Thrace. Getting some kind of pleasure out of sparring with Laura was a small whim; Kara was where his interests lay. The future and the past, and hope for the entire Cylon and human race, lay across her shoulders. So he wanted to dig up anything he could find--that was why he'd applied for employment in the shuttle bay first. He'd have the opportunity to sit where she sat, touch what she touched.
Now he wanted to hear her voice, hear about her confinement here in her own words.
But first he had to get inside the communications hub. Hopefully Laura wasn't home. So he hovered near the door, waiting for someone to arrive - Darcy specifically, if he's honest - so that he could shimmy up beside her.
"I'm sorry, do you work here?"
Of course she did.
