PLAYER PLOT: fear is the mind-killer

CHARACTERS: You and all your least favorite things.
LOCATION: Shipwide.
WARNINGS: Violence, gore, monsters, psych trauma. (Please warn for any potential triggers—e.g. medical horror, eye stuff, recollection of past sexual trauma—in your subject lines.)
SUMMARY: Boggarts. See the plot post for a full timeline if you want to forward-date; otherwise, watch this space for updates.
NOTES: Whatever happens, however this ends, remember that it's Draco Malfoy's fault.

JAN 22

If you've been paying attention, you should already be on edge. Ward and Resnik have returned without many answers. There's the dead pirate again. The Tranquility is being pursued. People are talking about violent confrontation like it's inevitable, any cycle now. Any day. And now Morgoth is back, somewhere in the corridors.

If you keep an eye out, you won't find him. But you might find something else.

JAN 23

Never mind about Morgoth.

JAN 24

Despite very well-intended claims to the contrary (see above), the mounting evidence suggests that boggarts can be killed. Also, there's probably more than one. Sorry about that.

Ah... no. I don't think I will.

[He could learn things, certainly, but the tradeoff of being alone with that... thing, that corpse of an abomination that looks like him, well, it's not worth it. Dorian can surely learn things that don't involve hanging around a twisted, corrupted, dead version of himself.]

Knowing that it's able to be killed is a start, and I'll see what information I can find from there. For all I know, things like this happen all the time here.

[He sighs. It's truly frustrating to not really know anything. He's been reading what he can, learning as much as possible, but it's not like at home. There are basic things about this place that Dorian just doesn't know - that no one seems to know.]

Perhaps for the moment we shouldn't go off alone.

[It's probably for the best. Cullen wouldn't feel right leaving Dorian alone with all that's going on- not with that thing (even if it is dead), and not when there are potentially others roaming the halls. So he nods, making one last valiant effort at wiping the blood from his skin, and gathers himself.

Hopefully, they won't be out long.]

I agree.

[But really, the sooner they get away from the body, the better. Cullen has never particularly enjoyed killing abominations, and when they look like his allies, it's even more disconcerting. He takes a few steps away in that case, hoping that Dorian will have gotten enough information from the corpse to follow him without protest.]

Someone told me that we were given the devices in situations like these. We can probably use them to try and communicate, see where Hawke and the others are.

[He doesn't mention Fenris or Sebastian by name for Dorian's sake... doesn't mention Cole for his own. When you get right down to it, they're a pretty fragmented group, aren't they? He trusts the others to take care of themselves, of course, but nothing is quite as comforting as safety in numbers and having a strong leader.]

I've experimented with mine a bit, and it does seem rather useful, if... strange. Perhaps banding together would be a good idea.

[Though joining up with Fenris and Sebastian would be more likely to end explosively, he thinks, and Cole... well, that wouldn't be much better. Still, Hawke's probably around somewhere.]

Safety in numbers, and all that. But let's get somewhere a bit safer before we try to contact anyone, shall we? I'd rather not get in another fight so quickly, simply because we weren't vigilant.

[He's moving with Cullen, away from the body. He'd rather not keep looking over his shoulder to make sure nothing else is coming out of the shadows at him. Dorian isn't fond of that at all.]

That sounds agreeable. Let's go.

[The sooner they both get away from the body, the better. Still, Cullen is moving with one hand resting on the hilt of his blade, prepared to draw and fight again at any moment. Maker only knows what would happen if they ran into more of those things- would they all bear Dorian's twisted face, or would they become something different?

He hopes they don't find out. It's already been plenty to deal with as it is.]
