[closed] Wind-ing Up

CHARACTERS: AJ Harris ([personal profile] hairrands) and William Tsang ([personal profile] dogbane)
LOCATION: Nearish Basecamp
WARNINGS: Halloween Event Shenanigans
SUMMARY: AJ decides to check in on Little Tokyo and finds his surrogate big bro instead. Drunken winds and masked capers ensue.
NOTES: Just this

The inexplicable events over the last few weeks had been leaving AJ wary of what to expect next. For all that people had told her that nobody was in charge around here, for better or worse, the rains of random supplies and the stampede that had clearly been some kind of offering suggested that there was shit at play beyond her ken.

She was making the rounds to determine that the few people she'd made any inroads with were okay, at least once the tarps and instruments in her two surviving moonshine dens were secured against the growing winds and the possibility of theft, one way or another. Takeshi, 'Little Tokyo' as she'd deigned to nickname him, was on that list, but because the boy seemed impossible to find, it had taken her a while to track him down. Now she was making inroads, having plumbed directions out of the basecamp dwellers, that Takeshi lived out of the way, but that he showed his face once in a while. So did his surrogate guardian, as far as she could figure, though she had not asked a lot about William because she preferred the show to the tell.

That was why she had been keeping a watch out for the last half a day, located (on a hunch) near the supply shed where a lot of iced alien horse-meat and other useful food was being stowed, her hair thrown back in a crude vine thong and her bare arms supporting an alien spear across her shoulders. She was alternately watching for children while she lazily punted a badly realized soccer ball back and forth with her feet, the product of her constant little pushes to occupy her attention with fake matter.

The wind was still a fearsome annoyance, but in the lee of the shed it wasn't quite so bad. She fancied she could see Takeshi down the road with someone taller, parting ways before the latter began on his way to the storage shed.

So this was the guardian, huh? AJ plunked her spear down and stilled her ball with a possessive foot, waving to him. "Hey," she called, simple enough to get attention.
