Going from that garbled name, the herb could be something he knows, or it might not be--but its properties don't sound familiar, so it's something foreign, so he really ought to have more caution than simply to shove it in Jack's shoulder and hope for the best.

Except of course Sirius is no mediwizard, and really it seems as if Edgeowrth has more general knowledge in this situation, with all his talk of bloodflow and artie-ries and colours and things.
