[ He wouldn't have gone with either of them, but the conversations had lead to more positive things between both Gwen and Jessica, that Peter conceded that he might as well have some semblance of social interaction with the two of them, and since Jessica was just as new as he was, and Gwen was the only one with what could be considered experience on the ship, it seemed natural to put them all together.

Peter had found his way towards the science department earlier on, when he had gone out on his own, deliberately ignoring Gwen's words and warnings, though he hadn't run into anything. Fingers tapping against his arm, he kicks against the wall, waiting for either one of them to show up in favor of conversation.

What's the worst that could happen anyway? ]

[ normally jess wouldn't have done this, but this is... peter parker. a peter parker. she had read enough on the multiverse to get some semblance of understanding while this wasnt hers -- the one that had died (he didnt look anything like her) -- she still felt obligated to well... meet him.

so she had made her way down to the science department, dressed half in the uniform shirt and half in some pair of skinnies she found somewhere (her costume hidden underneath), she raised a hand in a wave when she saw peter. ]

[ meahwhile, Gwen's just upstairs on the third floor. well, she was, because there are things to do, notes to upload onto her iPad so she can translate and sort through them. but now she's making her way back down the lift to wait for Peter and Jess and-

they're both totally there already. right there, in fact, she doesn't even have much time to save face.

was she running late?? ]

Hey, sorry, did I keep you two waiting long? [ she's even got her lab coat on and everything, nerrddd. she's fussing with her iPad just.. cause she's feeling fussy, yeah. oops. first it's in her left hand, then her right. and now she's holding it against her chest, arms crossed. yes good. no more fidgeting. ] Hi.

No, it's... okay. [ He was in the process of starting up a conversation, process being the key word here because Peter hadn't thought too far ahead of beyond the word hi and staring at Jessica awkwardly. It was a difficult place to put himself in; Gwen being a safety blanket of sorts, but relying solely on one person in a new location was hardly the way to put himself out there. At least here, no one knew him for the awkward kid he was.

Peter smiles visibly at her before shaking his head in the negative. ] You're fine. [ Really. ]

[ Wasn't sure what to say anyway. ] I kinda hope it rivals Oscorp's labs. [ Not that Oscorp wasn't bad on its own, but still, he had a thing for seeing things as they were offered, a playground to elaborate on. ]

[ jess squints a little when she sees gwen. labcoat? nice hair? non raccoon eyes? seriously what the hell's up with this. the multiverse sure was weird. she shrugs her shoulders, slipping her thumbs into her pockets ]

Nah. I only just got here.

[ her mouth tightens, resisting the urge to scowl at "oscorp", realizing that peter had no idea about osborn. or he was putting up an act. she doesn't say anything though, just looking between the two ]

Good. [ all smiles now, and she's trying really hard not to go into intern mode, but this- kind of feels like that. in a way. she's about to give a tour of the labs and in a weird way, even though she's trying to avoid it, it's making her feel more comfortable. more at home. this routine is standard for her, but it's never hit her here quite like it is right now. weird. ]

And yeah, it kind of does. The technology here is.. smarter? I guess I could say? Some of the lab equipment here actually works with you, instead of simply for you, if that makes any sense. It's a little crazy, but fun, once you get used to it. But one of the cons is that most of the computers are in a language nobody's been able to translate just yet. We've been able to work around it in some cases, but a lot of the files we recovered from before... [ she shakes her head, shrugs. IT BUGS HER, but there's nothing they can do about it now. ] So! Where should we start?

[ Peter doesn't actually know where to start all that much, because he's rather less interested in the technology at this point, and more interested in getting to know Jess. He misses the little details, like her lips tightening and all that, but it doesn't stop him from his internal little need to actually reach out past his usual incoherence and attempt a conversation with her.

But Gwen is there and they still have a tour to get through, so he shrugs and looks to Jess for an answer. ]

The first thing in there? [ And he looks over to Jess for a helpful supplement. ]
