SUMMARY: Following the events of this log in which Jack appears and immediately has people trying to kill him until SEC throws them all in jail to separate them.

Despite the efforts of the two Vault Hunters, Jack was not dead. Perhaps had they been more inclined to harm the security officers who had gotten in the way, the result would have been different, but they hadn't; instead, the three had been dragged off to the brig for a few days, and remarkably, nobody had been severely injured. They had been given cells that, while not immediately adjacent to each other, were still within earshot. This clearly would only be a temporary solution to stop their violence, but that, at least, was better than no solution at all.

Exactly. Instead, we got dogpiled by a bunch of security officers. Guess next time we'll just have to keep things a little quieter.

[Because it was pretty obvious to him that there would be a next time, and a time after that if that's what it took, until Jack was dead and gone from the ship. Or thrown down one of those holes. Hiding a body would be the easiest part of the whole deal, really.]

Yeah. If you don't think you can pull if off without being interrupted... don't. People don't really like killing people. Hell, one guy shot some chick in the shoulder once because she'd aimed a gun at him and everyone got mad at him.

[ It had been a joke, but Jaye would have done the same thing to Wichita that Moran did. ]

He ended up down here for a bit, too.

Moran? Yeah, he told me 'bout that. All I gotta say is those officers are just lucky I didn't consider them targets. They sure know how to make a situation more of a mess than it has to be.

[He shakes his head, then stretches a little, rolling his shoulders.]

You wanna go get a drink when I get outta here?

[Because there is so much more that Jack did to piss him off that he doesn't even want to talk about right now, mostly so Jack can't have the satisfaction of hearing how much it affected him. That, and alcohol makes it easier.]

[ Jaye's rather horribly pleased that they know each other and it shows in her quick smile. Most people don't like Moran, but she really can't figure out why. ]

That I do. An' much as that little brat drives me crazy sometimes, it'll be good to have him back.

Did you ever come up with a name for him? [ She doesn't think so, but her observational skills aren't always... good. ]

Just nicknames. 'Mijo' comes as close to a name as any, though. Might just stick with that. Then give him twenty years an' he'll be 'Mija' instead, but that works too.

[Alien biology, man. Get real used to a male bird and then one day it lays an egg.]

[ Turning her head to look at the bird... ] They change sex? [ She may not know Spanish but she gets the gist. ]

Heh. Yeah, apparently they do, 'bout halfway through their lifespan. Guess only the ones good enough to survive that long get to lay eggs. Makes some kinda sense.

Huh. [ Tilting her head at the bird a little more. ] Survival of the fittest, huh buddy? I think you'll be okay. [ More pets. ]

Long as he sticks close an' pays attention, he'll do well. Even if all he ends up learning to do here is kill chickens. At least it's good food.

Well, the fucked up mutant creatures all have their eyes scratched out anyway. Could he do more to them than go after those?

My last bird, she woulda handled 'em, no problem. This guy'd get himself killed, though. Those manticores look like a serious challenge, an' he just doesn't have the experience to fight something like that yet.

Thanks. I appreciate that. Funny how a place like this is probably less safe in some ways than it is back on Pandora. Might have more things out to eat him, but at least he can learn how to fight back.

"The emoticon," heh. Yeah, though I'm still waitin' for more to happen here. I know people get all upset when someone dies, I get that, but this place is pretty tame compared to what I'm used to. Wouldn't want to get outta practice, after all.

Yeah, an' I hear that a lot too, of course, but I guess I haven't been here long enough to really see that happen. Even our month-long expedition was more boring than I'd expect. Never had much of an appreciation for paintings, anyway.

What, the fact that it followed you around didn't creep you out? [ But she pauses, exhales. ]

The guy must've been moving pretty quick to get farther in there than we did. More murals, then, huh? He say anything about what they looked like?

Well, the halls change. He could've just been in a different one. And nothing specific, but there were whole rooms -- like cathedral-sized. Shit on the walls, the ceiling... and they moved, too.

[ And there were words with them, telling him to keep going. ]

[He's quiet for a moment as he thinks. There must be a better way to explore, to make the hallways lit and safe and secure so that groups of people could get in deeper, because something is in there that will explain this, surely.]

There's a bunch of empty gravity couches. What we need is some of the engineering team to figure out how they're hooked up. Move 'em into the hallways so we don't have to do as much backtracking. There's gotta be a way to get farther in.

[Or there are less conventional ways, thanks to the oddities of the multiverse represented on the ship.]

You know anyone with superpowers? Super speed, strength, anything like that?

I know vampires. But what if people show up in those after the jump?
