Follow the truth, follow the lies;

CHARACTERS: Handsome Jack, Lilith, Mordecai, open!
LOCATION: The brig
WARNINGS: Language?
SUMMARY: Following the events of this log in which Jack appears and immediately has people trying to kill him until SEC throws them all in jail to separate them.
NOTES: Backdated to a couple days after the jump. Specify the character yours is visiting in the subject line.

Despite the efforts of the two Vault Hunters, Jack was not dead. Perhaps had they been more inclined to harm the security officers who had gotten in the way, the result would have been different, but they hadn't; instead, the three had been dragged off to the brig for a few days, and remarkably, nobody had been severely injured. They had been given cells that, while not immediately adjacent to each other, were still within earshot. This clearly would only be a temporary solution to stop their violence, but that, at least, was better than no solution at all.

That was a mental image she did NOT need. She made a face of disgust, though she wasn't going to give him the pleasure of knowing the effect it had on her. "Like you'd be anything compared to Roland."

"Uh huh." His tone was flat, unconvinced, and unenthusiastic. "I'm sure he was real something. But doesn't matter 'cuz he's dead." Jack let out a low, cocky laugh. "Goddamn I'll never get tired of saying that." He laughed a little harder, continuing as if his next statement was flashing in bright neon lights. "Rrrrroland's dead!. God, you can't just invent feel-good statements like that. Just rolls off the tongue. Probably even cures cancer, it's so good."

She was clenching the bars so tight her knuckles were turning white. "How the hell can I shut up when he's trashing the name of the most moral person on Pandora?!"

That was when Jack turned his attention to Mordecai's voice. He was growing bored of Lilith, and the fact that through the entire conversation the hunter finally decided to chime in he sat up.

"Almost forgot you were here, Mordecai. How kind of you to join us. Was it all the talk about Roland's package? You can blame your little buddy Lilith for that one." He grinned.

"Honestly, I couldn't agree more. This entire exchange, really, has gone morbidly awry. How 'bout we just kick back, and reminisce about all the good times, huh? Like when Moxxi couldn't wait to get the hell away from you? Okay, not so good for you, but man, that little trick she does with her hips? Amazing, right? Things might've ended badly between us, but the way she moved and the noises she made? Was like she hadn't been touched in ages."

"Yeah, it's pretty amazing. My voice, I mean." Jack spoke through his grin, perking an eyebrow.

"You'd be surprised on how good my memory actually is, Mordecai. I know, I know... it's hard for you to remember... well...anything considering all the blackouts and brain damage you've gone through. I'm sympathetic. Really, I am. To have those physical ailments on top of being a filthy bird-loving shithead? Life must really suck for you."

It didn't bother him that Mordecai wasn't bothered by his verbal attacks... because Jack had already seen the man lose it. A couple times, actually. First, after he took Moxxi, and second blowing Bloodwing's head off. To him, Mordecai wasn't a threat. He was never a threat, and so he didn't take his statement seriously at all.

"Now, I don't think the crew of this ship will approve of you wanting to kill a passenger that just wants to start over."

That was his story and he was going to convince and manipulate everyone he could to believe it.
