drowning sorrows ( closed )
CHARACTERS: Ryan Newman & Handsome Jack
LOCATION: The bar!
WARNINGS: TBD?
SUMMARY: Nothing heals your pains better than some beer.
NOTES: n/a
In the little time he's been here, Ryan's getting to know the bar quite well.
Which is a good or bad thing, depending on how you looked at it. Studies have shown that a little bit of booze every now and then was good stuff for the heart, as long as you weren't downing a bunch of bottles every day. And the bar was a good place to meet a person or two, buy them a round and have them buy you back later. The only bad thing about it was the one person or two who might consider him an addict by how frequent his visits are (he doesn't know them, but he's sure they're out there somewhere), and the fact that he drowns his sorrows every now and then.
But honestly. Who doesn't?
Ryan's waiting at the bar now. He's picked out the best spot at the bar for the both of them, because hey. If Ryan was stuck in Handsome Jack's situation, he'd want a quick and easy beer, too. No doubt the guy was handling it pretty hard. Christ, if he had a kid, he would too.
The guy made Ryan think, though. It wasn't too often that he laid around in his room thinking that things honestly couldn't get any worse. Things had been going smoothly for him (for once!), and just when it did, this had to happen. There was no Amanda in space. No Wilfred, no good paying job. He was stuck once again, with a capitol S. And this time, he wasn't even his fault.
But things could be so much worse. He could have had a daughter who died. He himself could have died. Or at least be so close to death that you see the cliche white light that everyone talks about right in front of you. Were things bad for him now? Yes they were. But could they be worse...?
....Yes.
Ryan keeps his eyes on the sliding doors. Who was he looking for again? A handsome son of a bitch wearing a mask?

Oh snap! Didn't see this! My bad!
Unfortunately for Ryan, it was going to be hard for Jack to spot an ordinary Joe so easily. He just shrugged, heading to the bar, and waited to get the bartender's attention. He figured at this point, well, the guy could find him.
After all, how many guys with an unusual looking face mask come along these parts?
YOU'RE OK! if anything i should be apologizing since this is really really really late...
One guy walked past him, taking a seat at the bar. He didn't look like anyone Ryan knew, and he talked with Jack on audio, not video. But he could see the guy thinking he was hot stuff. Or maybe he was being a little too judgmental. If you asked him, Ryan wouldn't be able to tell you.
Okay, so he thought he had his guy. Now he just had to go up and ask, since the other guy seemed pretty planted at where he was. Not that Ryan minded being awkward. Nah.
He took a breath before standing, scooting over to the seat at the bar beside him. "Are you Jack?"
