CHARACTERS: Scotty AND YOU
LOCATION: Engineering/the kitchens/hallways in between
WARNINGS: Occasionally typed out Scottish accents.
SUMMARY: Scotty during the week of the pirate invasion. Mostly keeping vigil in the engine room or puttering around the food supplies.
NOTES: Feel free to bump into him on any day between the 19th and 23rd. Prose or action welcome.
If there had been even the tiniest fear of some pesky thing like boredom or a good night's rest bothering him aboard this new vessel, Scotty decided he could well and truly put it to rest. He'd scarce found where to stick his boots at night (a far corner of the engine room, it should be noted. Private quarters were a touch overrated) before a full blown pirate invasion. Perhaps the ship wasn't the sweet, clean design of a Starfleet vessel, but Scotty had to concede it was no less exciting. Not as pleasant, granted. But a man couldn't have everything all at once.
With this new lot of ne're-do-wells skulking about the ship- adding to the ones already present, he was sure- Scotty left the still-to-be-fully-explored engineering area of the ship with even less frequency. Beyond his own sentimentality for the area, so far as he was concerned engines were the most sensible target for any space faring looters. After all, no man could ever have enough spare coils when interstellar travel was afoot. Only the occasional requirement of getting real food could pull him away from his self-appointed defense of the delicate machinery.
Though, he had to confess, a tiny chat with the engineers of the other ship wouldn't be turned aside. He was making progress in translating the new technology, true, but there was nothing like the insights of a native speaker.

whenever fits in the timeline bb.
his katana is in his boot, though just how good he'd be with it right now was anyone's guess. but he's riffling through scotty's toolbox, moving a little slower than he has to. ]
Are you settling in alright?

Lived in worse. Regardless, the notion a ship of this size without as much as a first generation food synthesizer? Dafty. Might as well be living on protein nibs.

but they'll be fine. he can deal with it and still do his job. ]
Maybe we can try to build one. Or get Stark to build one.
what eppy said, i'm easy.
he has only left engineering once or twice, just to check on pepper and to make sure him and natasha and clint could properly coordinate if something went down. his suit is hidden away in his room for right now, but he's ready to grab it the moment something goes down.
but for now he's over by a screen checking on something when he hears scotty behind him. ]
Not the best first jump to come in on. [ a simple fact, strictly speaking, and a bit of an understatement. ]

[Scotty makes his way to his own bit of terminal, trying to pin-point precisely what has gone missing since the wee thieving bampot had started her hits and runs. No critical systems had been affected yet, but if anything actually plugged in had gone missing a good diagnostic should tell him.]

[ That's not entirely true but it's easier to just make a joke about it. Hayes is— what she is, annoying and vaguely like looking into a mirror. It's strange and is mostly something Tony would like to forget. ]
She gotten anything that's going to ensure we're dead unless we fix it before the jump? [ Fix is easier than finding or replacing, they can likely pull off all three but when in doubt and when vaguely annoyed and waiting for her to do another hit and run, well, it's best you pick the easiest thing. Just for now. ]

[Engines, life support, the rest of that lot, that hadn't been damaged as of yet. On this ship, however, Scotty wouldn't be shocked if the fridge in the kitchen running was the corner stone that helped them all together mid-jump.]
