SUMMARY: Brief encounters, finding ransacked/damaged areas, making your way to the oxygen gardens.

The ship has been invaded by pirates. They're noisy on the network, but you haven't seen any, not in person. Though if you go far enough things start to make themselves apparent. Kitchens have been ransacked. Pieces of the walls are torn out, media libraries overturned. Maybe you should get your valuables together and find somewhere safe to hole up...

"No, no, they were just going to take a rowboat out into uncharted space and go starve somewhere." York's tone is similarly dismissive.

"I see."

Yeah. Just colossally stupid.

"Even so, it is a good practice to keep them in working condition. Perhaps they will be of use after all."

"Yeah, we can hope. Like I said, I mostly do it to keep busy. I work with a lot of interesting people too."

Delta nodded. York had never really liked being completely idle, so it didn't surprise him that his partner had found some kind of work here.

"I think investigating this environment once I have settled would not be amiss. Perhaps you can show me what you have learned."

"Yeah, I can do that. I think you'd find it interesting."

"I think you are correct."

He smiled over at York a little shyly.

[logicunlocked]

"We'll have to find time to check out the media libraries too. Nice thing is we don't really have a schedule in the shuttle bay. I spend a lot of time there, but it won't be any big deal if I start spending less." He rubs the back of his neck briefly before continuing. "Actually, you know what would be really nice is if you could read some stuff to me. I started a couple books I liked, but it hurts to read very long, and I don't like the text-to-speech function on these comm devices."

"I would be happy to do so."

Although, Delta had to admit to himself, it felt very strange to be on the outside of that neck-rubbing gesture. It was one of the few times York really acknowledged his physical presence when he'd still been located there - they'd both known the hologram was only a projection, even if York did usually prefer talking to it.

"It will be entirely possible to read in the shuttle bay, if you prefer working and entertainment at the same time."

"Nah, I'd honestly like to keep that separate. Just you and me, you know? Work time is for socializing."

After all, now that they were forced to commune together as friends would, instead of being literally inseparable, they needed to take the time to cultivate that friendship.

Rather than being disappointed by this, Delta was actually a little flattered that York wanted to keep Delta for himself, so to speak. And as much as he'd like to spend every waking moment with York, well, not only was that not really practical, Delta was more than used to not having him around at all. Any time spent together would be a treat.

"Understood. Perhaps we could meet daily for a meal and entertainment, either before or after your shift?"

York grinned. "Yeah. I like that idea."

They were coming up on the shuttle bay now and he nodded in that direction. "We're almost there."

"Excellent." That would give Delta time to investigate the ship on his own, while York was at work, and yet still set aside a fair portion of his day for interaction.

Now the shuttle bay he wanted to pay attention to. The ship's design, aside from some very superficial similarities that Delta suspected were common of all spacefaring vehicles, was really nothing like a UNSC ship. What would the shuttles be like?
