SUMMARY: Brief encounters, finding ransacked/damaged areas, making your way to the oxygen gardens.

The ship has been invaded by pirates. They're noisy on the network, but you haven't seen any, not in person. Though if you go far enough things start to make themselves apparent. Kitchens have been ransacked. Pieces of the walls are torn out, media libraries overturned. Maybe you should get your valuables together and find somewhere safe to hole up...

[Kate thinks about it as she starts to set up some of their defense.]

Space Lion Tamers.

Lion Tamers?

[ Just a laugh, before she's standing back up and clearing the counter of anything food. She needs to restock her cartridges, while they're in a down period. And she trusts Kate to watch the door. ]

Yeah but if they don't have their space lions then they're kind of worthless. What about space cowboys?

[licks]

I don't know... a guy in leather chaps? I could go for that.

[swedge]

It'd depend on the guy. Most "cowboys" [ she puts up the airquotes just because ] aren't all John Wayne.

[licks]

That's true, but there aren't too many unattractive guys on board. [Honestly, they all look like they could be on TV shows or in movies...]

[swedge]

You've noticed it too?

[ It's actually kind of insane. Not that she's complaining, but still. Percentage-wise, shouldn't be possible. ]

[ sorry ladies, but you'll have to put the conversation on hold for a hot minute. dean only comes around when he finally catches a free minute from the chaos and mayhem sec's had to deal with, so he shows up unannounced, rounding the corner and striding into the bar without much warning. ]

Jo?

[ he knows if there's one place she'll be okay at besides the gardens, it's the bar. the place is easy to barricade and jo's more than good with keeping unwanted "customers" out. ]

[licks]

[Kate glances up at the voice and smirks.]

If you think you're the Calvary, you're a bit late. We're already here.

[swedge]

[ and maybe it's because Jo's been dealing with those 'unwanted guests' that her first reaction is to grab her closest pistol and aim it at the door - recognizing the voice half a second later. ]

Hey Dean. [ jo sets the pistol back down, snorting a little at kate's comment and returning to what she'd been doing. ] Everything okay out there?

[faithlessly]

[ oh, yeah, a wave of his hands in surrender when he sees that gun... which then drop when he realizes jo isn't alone. ]

Kate? [ surprise is clear in his voice, but then, it's not like he knew what she was up to with the mess they were in, so he's almost glad to see her--

of course, the fact that she's here, hanging out with jo is... is weird. and just a bit awkward as might be clear by the look on his face. ]

You two, uh, know each other?

[licks]

[Oh, this is cute. Kate glances to Dean and smirks, looping her arm around the blonde girl.]

Yeah, Jo and I met her first jump. Bonded over weapons and we've been on good terms ever since. [Of course, Jo is like Kate and keeps the personal things out of the line of conversation -- mostly because bad ass women don't talk about things that aren't the job.]

Glad to see you're in one piece. [Because she prefers him in one piece.]

[swedge]

She's been helping me out with the bar.

[ and the weapons, but that goes unspoken. she just ends up leaning against kate a little more, perfectly comfortable with the space. but they'd never mentioned anyone else on the ship outside of their own hunting experience and weapons, and somehow dean just didn't make it into conversation. by name, at least.

which is why jo's a little confused when he knows kate, looking between the two. ]

You two know each other? [ which really, isn't that big of a surprise. like minded people tend to find each other. it's just a strange case of extremely small world. ]

[faithlessly]

[ wow kate, not fair. dean just...eyes the two of them getting all friendly with each other like it's the weirdest buddyship he's ever seen. which, granted, it kind of is all things considered. not only that, but hearing that they've known each other since jo's first jump is... well, surprising, too. ]

Uh- yeah, all good here.

[ but cue a smile, slightly off, and a nod. ]

Sure do. One of the first people I got to know here. She, uh, Kate's-- [ a friend? sort of. an ally? definitely. one hell of a good time? you got it. ] --been more than helpful.

[ in different ways... ]

[Don't worry, Dean. Kate is very good at keeping secrets.]

Dean and I have gone on a few hunts here on board. Things aren't what I'm used to, but it's still good to have someone you trust at your back.

[swedge]

[ Jo's eyes narrow a bit when Dean stumbles over his words. It's not very obvious, but more of a gut feeling that there's something else there. When Kate mentions going on hunts, mentions trust, Jo's eyes go between the two of them but she can't quite figure it out.

Of course, there are assumptions. But she's not sure. It is Dean, after all. ]

I can understand that. [ she turns to Kate, making a face as she motions over to Dean - all but ignoring the fact he's standing right there. ] 'm sure his ass needed saving, anyway. [ it's too nice to leave on its own anyway ]

[faithlessly]

[ hunts is about right, or as right as it can get in this place so dean only nods after kate's words. it's when jo makes her little comment that he huffs. ]

Hey, maybe I saved her ass, ever think of that?

[ yeah fucking right. ]

[licks]

[Kate smirks, lifting her brows in curiosity.]

I'm sure she thought about it. Then realized how silly it sounded.

[swedge]

Yeah, I don't know. I think I know Kate a little better than that.

[ and there goes her arm right around Kate's waist too. look at these two, twins. ]

[licks]

[Pirate attack? What pirate attack? This is the perfect distraction from all of that. A bit of good-natured teasing at the male in the room.]
