EVENT: SPACE PIRATES ▒ APRIL 20-21

CHARACTERS: Ensemble production!
LOCATION: Anywhere.
WARNINGS: Pirates, violence, etc.
SUMMARY: Brief encounters, finding ransacked/damaged areas, making your way to the oxygen gardens.
NOTES: Open to all!

The ship has been invaded by pirates. They're noisy on the network, but you haven't seen any, not in person. Though if you go far enough things start to make themselves apparent. Kitchens have been ransacked. Pieces of the walls are torn out, media libraries overturned. Maybe you should get your valuables together and find somewhere safe to hole up...

Keeping an eye out for the pirates. How kind of AM to help out with the security watch, despite not being part of the department. Giving a small nod, Soysauce bounced his weight on the balls of his feet -- shooting AM his usual chipper smile as he shifted his supply pack against his shoulder.

"Yes, sir! Helping with the supply runs for people stuck in the Oxygen Gardens! I'm afraid I've never really been patient enough for standing guard for long stretches of time, and going on supply runs gives me the chance to get out and look around. Keep an eye out for any trouble that might be happening, yes?"

A pause, before his voice gained a slight edge of concern and he gave a small cant of the head. "-- please do watch out though, Mister AM? It seems like the pirates have already ransacked a few places. It would be awful to hear you'd been hurt by them."

Either AM was impeccable at convincing others of his false intentions, or Soysauce was utterly dense. Well, of course it was a combination of the two. But even so, AM could usually detect hesitation from the other, but now Soysauce hardly seemed to exhibit such. Simple gratitude and concern.

"Right, you're one of the security members." Something that AM forgot at times, since Soysauce didn't seem like the type at all. But then again, "security" was probably just another word for "trigger happy." Something that most humans were.

"I'm sure I'll be just fine, my dear Soysauce," he assured, once more leaning against the wall in an almost casual manner. "The pirates seem rather cowardly, wouldn't you think?"

While part of it was simply that Soysauce was rather distracted, his attention split in so many ways -- but a greater part of Soysauce simply wanted to trust AM. So wanting to maintain his friendship with AM that he willingly ignored so many signs that should have made him suspicious.

And when AM so easily dismissed the threat of those pirates, Soysauce gave a small blink before canting his head. Huming thoughtfully for a moment before speaking, sounding a bit more serious than usual.

"Cowardly, yes. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be feared. I think it's quite usual for an attacking group to be tentative at first. Desert raiders -- would do the same. Sending out scouts to assess the enemy and observe the territory, snatch up easy targets first before making a more aggressive move. Just because the pirates have been avoiding confrontation thus far -- doesn't mean they're weak, I think." A small nod to punctuate his words as he looked back up to AM. "So -- please be careful. Are you at least armed, sir?"

Sometimes it was easy for AM to forget that he was still in this human form, that he was vulnerable. Of course he knew that the pirates had deadly potential, knew of the strategy that Soysauce spoke of... It was simply easy for him to dismiss them as cowardly for their violent actions because that was what he was used to. Human cowardice was such a common thing, the entire reason why he was built.

"Of course. I am aware of most fighting strategies." He scowled slightly for a brief moment, until he closed his yes and gave a short laugh. "But of course, it was silly of me to call them cowards. I suppose I underestimate people too easily."

He didn't have a gun, unfortunately, but he had a knife and a cattle prod. AM certainly wished he had a gun, as he would feel safer that way, but as is he had to make do. "Ah... I do have weapons, yes."

Soysauce had to bite his tongue at that. 'Aware of most fighting strategies.' He so very dearly wanted to say that knowing strategies was completely different from actually being experienced in combat -- and he couldn't help but wonder how much experience AM had actually had fighting another person before. AM had been a machine before ending up here, hadn't he? So -- not much experience?

"Ah, well. Always good to have a method of self-defense, isn't it?" Soysauce rubbed distractedly at the back of his neck as he gave a lame laugh. Wondering at the back of his mind if maybe -- he should lend AM the security-assigned gun he's carrying. And he looked up at AM a little shyly before speaking up once more, his tone of voice playful and affectionate.

"Though, please don't be afraid to give a shout if you're ever in danger and I'm anywhere near, yes? Not only because it's my job -- but I'd hate to have anything happen to a friend!"

Ah... AM had to be careful of what he said. Sometimes it was easy for his tongue to slip and give off hints of his true nature, what he was actually built for. He thought he caught a glimpse of Soysauce looking uncomfortable at his words, which only reminded him to be more careful in the future. (But then, there were many things he did that seemed to make the other a bit... uncomfortable, weren't there?)

So to ease the situation, he smiled softly. "Thank you. I appreciate it. I'm sure I'll be just fine."

He paused then, his smile turning slightly coy as his eyes narrowed. "I'd hate to see anything happen to you either."

It seemed to ease some of the worry from his mind, when AM smiled, and Soysauce obligingly beamed back -- rocking a bit on his heels as he gave an energetic nod. "Well -- but just in case. It never hurts to be careful, doesn't it? And besides --"

An energetic little laugh as he made a gallant pose, one arm swept out wide and the other pressed to his chest.

"-- you underestimate me, sir! Though I may appear to be naught but a humble musician, I'm quite the force to reckon with on the battlefield! A swift gunman, with eyes like a hawk. Unlikely that a mere pirate would be able to lay even a finger on me!" He spoke grandly, and though he was mostly exaggerating -- there was a certain element of sincerity and pride to his voice.

Pathetically cute. Mostly pathetic. Cute in a diminutive way, like how a a human pleading for its suffering to end was cute. That's basically how AM could sum up Soysauce's response. Just how experienced was he with fighting others? He seemed like a sickeningly sweet man, skinny and weak, incapable of hurting anyone. (But he was human. Of course he was violent.)

"My... You certainly don't look to be the violent type." AM had probably commented on this before; he couldn't remember. Not that he was surprised, but AM was truthfully curious to see that side to Soysauce - the violent side. He saw a smidgen of it during that Other World fiasco a few months ago...

"But if you say you can handle yourself... I'm sure you can." He smiled, silently laughing to himself. "But it won't stop me from worrying about someone I care about."
