EVENT: SPACE PIRATES ▒ APRIL 20-21

CHARACTERS: Ensemble production!
LOCATION: Anywhere.
WARNINGS: Pirates, violence, etc.
SUMMARY: Brief encounters, finding ransacked/damaged areas, making your way to the oxygen gardens.
NOTES: Open to all!

The ship has been invaded by pirates. They're noisy on the network, but you haven't seen any, not in person. Though if you go far enough things start to make themselves apparent. Kitchens have been ransacked. Pieces of the walls are torn out, media libraries overturned. Maybe you should get your valuables together and find somewhere safe to hole up...

... oh.

[ because yes, sometimes he needs reminding that human doesn't mean helpless. but that doesn't change the fact that it's still more fragile than what he is, even if it does curb a fraction of his worry. ]

She taught you how to use her crossbow?

[ which yes, she just said that, but- ]

... how long did it take?

[ asked in as politely skeptical a fashion as possible. you just don't strike him as the crossbow type, no offense. ]

[ what kills lydia, more than anything, is feeling helpless. it's been— not exactly her default state, not really, but she's not used to feeling like she's being controlled. like everything she could try and do to break the control is useless. it's helplessness or uselessness, one of the two but she can't figure out which one and it kills her. ]

We started the thirteenth jump, she left the fifteenth jump and I'm pretty good. I've been practicing since she left after she taught me the basics. Being able to shoot the gun helps me with my aim, I just occasionally have problems with stance.

[ in short, she's not bad, but she sure as hell isn't allison level. ]

I can shoot it without hitting myself and that's the important part. [ a beat. ] She was going to help me more after the jump when she left.

[ it's stupid to mourn allison leaving when he hadn't been here with her in the first place. scott hadn't spoken to her in a while, anyway - not after the fallout with gerard and her mother. but hearing lydia talk about her, hearing that he's missed something to do with her still makes him feel slightly off. ]

That's good. That she taught you. I guess we all need to learn how to take care of ourselves here.

[ which sounds mostly polite, mostly diplomatic, though it's honest enough. actually saying it makes him think of something else, though, and there's a fair amount of chagrin when he continues. because it's dangerous here, but it was dangerous at home, too - and nobody taught lydia how to shoot, then. ]

We should have told you.

[ lydia would argue that it's not that stupid to mourn allison. oh, she'd tell scott that it's not like she's dead so don't mourn that way, but he still loved her, and it's only natural to feel off when she's mentioned. after all, until jackson had come ( and maybe even after ) lydia had always stumbled over what to call him. they were broken up, technically, but she had brought him back to life and that had to count for something and even now she's still a little fuzzy on what they're supposed to be called and what she's supposed to feel entirely. she can't blame him for feeling like he misses her and that it makes him feel off. ]

It's what best friends are supposed to do. Take care of each other. It's what pack does.

[ she almost wants to cry when she hears that, hears those words that she's been wanting to hear from someone, any one of them and it's so overwhelming to hear that it actually takes her a good moment to reply. ]

You guys wanted to protect me. I can't— I've had time to think about that, a lot of time to forgive you all for that. What else could you have done, hm? Told me that werewolves were real and that I was attacked by one? I wouldn't have believed you. You— we're just teenagers and I would have loved it if you all would have told me but—

How long have you thought about that? That you should have told me.
