CHARACTERS: Mason Lockwood and whoever wants to run into him.
LOCATION: Various! Hallways, the gardens, the SEC gym, Space Babylon. Pretty much all over the ship.
WARNINGS: None currently but they might crop up. Warnings will be put in subject lines if they're needed.
SUMMARY: Just a day in the life of a werewolf.
NOTES: Jump in if you'd like! This is just a catch-all sort of deal.

[ Mason's trying to keep as busy as he possibly can these days. Considering all the shit that's been going down - Jenna running off into some unknown part of the ship and getting fucked up because of it, everything that happened with the Scylla and the pirates, the body strung up like a goddamn puppet, Tyler getting lost somewhere in the ship - he'd rather keep himself occupied than let himself dwell on all of it for too long. So he takes extra shifts for security, works out harder and more often than normal, ends up in Space Babylon to drink as much as he can. (This place makes the whole better tolerance than humans thing even more frustrating than it had been back home; all he wants to do is get drunk but considering the amount of alcohol it takes and how quickly the effects dissipate, it's not really worth it.)

At least he's still friendly enough, saying Hello and smiling when he passes people in the hallways or the gym. Even at the bar, despite sitting alone, he does the same. No sense taking his frustrations with the ship out on the people around him, right? ]

[Having no real role on the ship meant that Bela had a lot of free time to kill. If she wasn't spending time with Clint or working on the archery lessons, she was in her room relaxing and making sure her cat was looked after. Perhaps she had fallen into a kind of routine on board and that was fine with her; it was only when things got fucked up on board was when Bela began to worry.

This evening though, she found herself at Space Babylon, looking for a drink and a chance to reconnect with those she knew on board. It was an opportunity to kick back and relax some more without having to worry about any crazy things happening.

Hopefully.]

[ Mason, who has been here for a little over an hour, has already worked his way through half of a bottle of... something. It's not whiskey or bourbon, he knows that much, but it doesn't taste completely awful and that's the most important thing for him. He's got the slightest hint of a buzz going as he taps his thumb against the glass his fingers are loosely curled around, but he knows it'll be gone in a matter of minutes. Unless, of course, he drinks a lot more before it has a chance to dissipate.

It's luck more than anything that he happens to glance over and catch sight of a familiar face when he does. ] Bela! [ He lifts his glass to get her attention in case she didn't hear him. ]

[He did manage to get her attention after he calls out her name as she turns to greet him, offering a smile.]

Mason! Hello. [Bela's gaze falls on the bottle beside him.] Have you been here a while?

About an hour, give or take. [ He gestures towards the empty seat beside her, turning half towards the bar again. ] I don't get drunk easy, though, if that's what you're worried about. [ Because he say that glance towards the bottle. ]

Maybe I was a little worried. [Not because of the amount he was drinking but because he was drinking alone. She was doing the same thing.] Please, sit. We're long over due for catching up.

Yeah, we are. In fact -- [ he moves to sit down as he speaks ] -- if I remember correctly, you had something you wanted to talk to me about.

I did, yes. I'm sorry for taking so long to talk about it with you. [ It was something she had to tell him in person. ] Rather than dragging this out, I'll just be straight with you, Mason. I'm seeing someone at the moment and it's going really well, much better than I thought it would. [A pause.]

It's only been a recent development but I want to give it a real chance. But it doesn't mean that I don't wish to be your friend or talk to you. You've never done wrong by me.

[ Considering all the possible things that crossed Mason's mind when Bela said she wanted to talk to him - including pregnancy, honestly, though it's been a while for that sort of thing to come up and be relevant to him - this news? It's very, very welcomed. Sure, it means they won't be fooling around any longer, but it's not like that's the only reason he talks to her.

So he grabs the bottle and pours himself another drink, grinning a little as he lifts his glass in a toast. ] Congratulations. It's about time this place has something good happen. If he hurts you, though, I'll kick his ass. For the record.

[ The thought of being pregnant terrified her because she didn't think she could be a good mother and her time may be limited on this ship. Hence the reason why she was always careful. ]

Thank you. [ She's pleased by his reaction, reaching for the bottle after Mason was finished to pour a measure for herself before holding it up to him. ] I don't think there's any danger of that. He's one of the good ones. [ Bela takes a sip from her glass, then sets it down again. ] But it's nice to see that you care.

[ Mason grins a little as he takes a sip of his own drink, turning the glass in his hand for a moment before setting it down. ] It's a surprise, right? The big, bad werewolf actually has a heart. [ He actually doesn't like showing that much, especially since he's not exactly the type to trust and get close to others. Maybe his time on the ship was starting to soften him, though.

At least in regards to some select people. ] Don't go spreading that around, alright?

It's between us, Mason. No one else will know.

[ She's trying this trust thing and has been for a little while now, with some success. Bela knows she still has to work on some personal issues but at the same time, she doesn't want to completely change her personality.

After another healthy sip from her glass, her attention falls on him again. ] Won't be long until you've caught the eye of another girl. Looker like you? They should be falling at your feet.

[ Mason's been trying it ever since he attacked Tommy and confessed to it, although that in and of itself was a huge step for him. He has yet to regret it fully, too, though Tyke not being there for him when he needed it most has become a pretty sore spot. It's strange and uncharted territory, but he's trying and that's what matters. ]

You're assuming I don't already have quite a few lined up, [ he teases with a lift of his eyebrows. It's not necessarily true - it's not a line so much as it's just another girl he's hooked up with before - but he can joke about it anyway. ]

I'm not assuming a thing. [she responds with a smirk, taking another sip from her glass. ] Nor would I judge. [his life after all. he could choose whom or how many women he wanted to be with. ]

But we did have fun, didn't we? [now was perhaps not the best time to be nostalgic, considering where they were and that she was currently seeing another person, but she did enjoy the times that she and Mason were together.]

[ He sort of figured she wouldn't be the sort to judge him for sleeping with multiple women at the same time (sleeping with, not dating, because he doesn't really date) but it's still good to hear it.

Grinning, Mason takes another sip of his drink and nods. ] Yeah, we definitely did. But if you're happy, I'm happy. [ Or, at the very least, he can pretend that's the case. Not that he's unhappy about her seeing someone else, there's just a hell of a lot of other things on his plate to worry about. ]

[ considering the fact that she did the same thing last year, Bela was in no position to judge him. and now she was committed to one person-it was strange and she had a lot to learn but it was nice at the same time. ]

I am happy. Very happy. [ it radiated from her. what she had going at the moment made things a heck of a lot easier for Bela and nothing or no one could take that away from her. she never thought it would happen.]

So, how are things in general for you, Mason?

[ There was actually a tiny part of him that was jealous of her; he could see how happy she was and it made something twist in his stomach. So he downed the rest of his drink and reached for the bottle casually, pouring himself some more as he lifted one shoulder in a shrug. ]

About as well as they can be here, you know? [ Nothing particularly special has happened, at least not to his knowledge. (How he's gotten this far without knowing Katherine had come back is a miracle, honestly.) ] Tyler's missing, though.

[ Her expression grows a little more serious as soon as he tells her about Tyler. ] You're sure that he is missing and that he hasn't gone home? I know of a few people who have gotten lost, only to come back a month or so later.

[ Bela took another sip from her glass and set it down again, fingers still wrapped loosely around it. ] In any case, I hope that he is all right and if he is still on board, that he comes back soon.

[ He shrugs a little. ] Comm's still recognizing him, he's just not answering. [ It's the best guarantee he's got and, honestly, Mason doesn't like the idea of him going home. Not after what he's heard about what happens.

He nods to that next part, though, thumb running over the edge of his glass. He's more worried than he'd like to admit, truth be told. ] He's a tough kid, I'm sure he'll be alright.

He will, Mason. From the few times that I spoke to him, Tyler seemed quite capable of taking care of himself. [It was an attempt at reassurance as she had a feeling that Mason probably was worried about his nephew, he was just hiding it.]

Have you considered going out to look for him? I know that it can get dangerous in the deeper parts of the ship.

[ He nods at that first part - Tyler was plenty capable - but it doesn't comfort him as much as he'd like. ]

I've considered it. [ He downs the rest of his drink and rolls his shoulders. ] Haven't really decided yet, but it could be worth a try.

If you do decide to look for him, please be careful. I'd suggest that you shouldn't really go alone but maybe you wouldn't wish to endanger anyone else.

[Bela finishes off her drink, placing the empty glass down.]

I'm not here to stop you, just to make you aware.

You worried about me, Bela? [ Despite the topic of conversation, Mason still manages an amused, charming grin. But he sobers after a moment. ] I'm not gonna let anyone else get lost if I can help it, but I'll be careful. Promise.

A little bit. [She reaches for the bottle to pour herself another, topping Mason's up afterwards.] Good, glad to hear it. I can't have any of my friends getting injured.

[ He lifts his glass, angling it towards her in a silent thanks, then takes a sip. ] Even if I do, I'll end up healing faster than most.

[Unless the injuries he received were critical and not something Mason could heal from. Perhaps she shouldn't think about that.] Neat little trick, that. Or ability if we're being precise.

[ He could heal from a good portion of them, it would just take longer than he'd like. Either way, he doesn't plan on even getting a scratch while he's out there, so... ] It sure as hell can be. Doesn't mean everything's sunshine and roses, though.

Life has taught me that very well, Mason. [It looked like she was about to say something else but Bela decides against it, taking another drink to occupy herself instead. She didn't have much of a life to get back to at home and here was the better option, as crazy as it seemed.] I suppose that makes me more of a realist.

[ Mason, unfortunately, was in the same boat thanks to one Damon Salvatore. All he had was this place and that, if you asked him, was pretty fucked, but it's not like there was anything he could do about it. ] There's nothing wrong with that, if you ask me.

[Bela didn't know that about him and he had no idea about her situation either; maybe none of them would ever know but only time would tell.] Yeah? I'm glad that there's someone else who agrees with me.
