just a roman candle, you can wear your sandals
CHARACTERS: Sulu and Chekov
LOCATION: Holodecks. Hell yeah.
WARNINGS: Swords? idek.
SUMMARY: Sulu teaches Chekov how to fence. Sort of. With a broom.
[Holodecks are an interesting concept to Chekov. He understands the principles involved, of course, and when you consider the concept of replicators, it really isn't too much of a stretch to assume that such would be possible, given the right equipment and presets. Still, a system which intuitively creates an environment based off a relatively vague program and allows its participants to interact and influence environmental changes? Well, suffice it to say he'd be intrigued even if Sulu hadn't offered fencing lessons.
When he arrives at the proper room, he peers around, taking in the boring, gun metal grey of the compartment walls. It's underwhelming on its own, but perhaps that's part of the experience.]

Hallo? Lieutenant?

it's not a perfect plan, but it's what he has. getting back on the horse isn't really in the cards, but he just needs--
he wants to feel like himself again. and teaching chekov is one of the best ways he knows how to do that. and so, here they are. sulu's stolen two brooms from the roombas because there's a distinct lack of supplies and no one's starting out with an actual sword. ]
You don't need to call me Lieutenant on our down time, you know.
[ whatta greeting. ]

Ah-- Yes, sir!
[He's struggling for something else to say, when he spots the brooms and heaves a sigh of relief.]
Oh good! I vas vorried ve'd be using swords.

at the time, he hadn't figured he'd be staying here for very long. ]
Not yet. When you get your footing with the brooms I'll scrounge up some swords for us.
[ not that sulu's sure where to look for that, but he's got time to consider it. ]
