WARNINGS: language?
SUMMARY: it's almost a week since the jump, and with all those nights of good sleep under his belt, hansel decides it's finally time to tell Gretel about his locker gift
Having shared a room with Gretel almost every night since they were born, sleep has never been hard to come by. She's always had his back, even in sleep, and that's something that's made it easier to ignore the potential threats; the witches who'd take any advantage they could to get the drop on the two of them. The ones that still want them dead, at any cost.
Being on this ship, that sentiment hasn't changed. At least from his side. The only difference being that, more often than not, his dreams have been plagued with bitter memories of parents he'd sooner forget. Of a witch who proved there was more out there than the darkness of a corrupted heart. They've lost a great deal throughout their lives, but it's only since arriving on this ship that those memories have been so hard to push away. To move to the back of his mind and ignored indefinitely. The newest arrival in his locker hadn't helped, of course. a bundle of twigs that wouldn't mean much to most here. But to him, it's another reminder of those loses. Of her sacrifice for him.
She didn't deserve it. She died for him.
It's something he was quick to hide, even as the two of them dressed side by side at the jump. Something he tucked into his pack, buried beneath dirty clothes and empty vials. (At some point he'll go back to McCoy again and get them refilled). Something that he doesn't need to see, to touch, to feel the weight of it dragging his pack down. But he's kept it with him since then, refusing to let his pack out of his sight. And if Gretel's noticed, she hasn't said anything yet. Which is what makes it both harder and easier to return to his room, six nights after the jump, and upend his pack onto Gretel's bed.
Ammunition, medkit, insulin, (thankfully the clothes are gone now. Cleaned and folded away) and a wand.
Mina's wand.
