DEAN WINCHESTER ([personal profile] faithlessly) wrote in [community profile] ataraxionlogs2013-09-18 03:36 pm

( OPEN ) lately, lately i've been losing sleep

CHARACTERS: dean winchester + ANYONE ( MEANING YOU ) who wants to run into him!
LOCATION: various
WARNINGS: swearing, violence, blood… all the fun stuff. C:
SUMMARY: after an unfortunate meeting with his brother one currently vampire dean winchester is poisoned, hungry and seconds away from completely losing it.
NOTES: see ooc notes inside!

I. THE DORMANT ANGEL'S POD;

[ the cool surface of the pod feels nice against the skin of his burning forehead. poison, literal to him, is rushing through his system, leaving dean a pile of pain he can barely keep a lid on. his thoughts though, they're a riddle of rage and hunger, dead man's blood a sharp whip of sensation which only leaves him angrier, shatters and breaks that thin control of his further and further. but it's thanks to sam he's this way now, thanks to his stupid little brother who'd insisted on tracking him down when he'd repeatedly told him to back off, to leave him alone. at least some lucid part of hims realizes, that when things had gone wrong -- and they had, of course they had -- sam hadn't hesitated to do what had been necessary, and for that he's glad.

still, it's hard to find joy in the situation, with his body shutting down, ravenous for blood yet weighed down by the lack of sleep and the emptied contents of sam's syringe. and sammy-- now he's run off too, the expression carved into sam's face -- terror, guilt --nailed into dean's mind as the final punishment. yet, he can't tear his thoughts away from the smell of blood, the richness of it from when his brother had started to bleed, can't quite rid his mind of the need for it, from obsessing over finding more.

fuck. ]

Screw you for sleeping.

[ it's a quiet grumble, said to the slumbering passenger within the pod he stands in front of. cas has been in there since the jump, unaware of all the damage that is slowly starting to build, of the control that is slipping from dean's fingers even as he rests here, poisoned. ]

I need you to wake up and help me.

[ the thud that echoes through the space is dull, as dean's fist slips from the surface of castiel's pod. ]

II. CREEPY HALLWAYS GET A WHOLE NEW MEANING;

[ one thing leads to another, finding dean in one of the many hallways of the massive ship. maybe he'd searching for his room, too disorientated to navigate as the dead man's blood in his system throws his vision off, or maybe he's picked up another passenger's heartbeat, following it quietly, the alluring sound a promise of blood.

blood, the very thing he craves but hasn't had the chance to taste yet, effectively meaning he hasn't eaten since the jump. it's an overwhelming smell, powerful beyond dean's resistance and he continues after it be the source of it wherever, only now and the breaking down for rest that his disabled body requires of him.

oh, how the mighty have fallen. ]

III. WILDCARD;

[ maybe he's running down the hallway, escaping another scene, or maybe he's leaning heavily against the wall, his entire frame the picture of worn down. maybe dean's found something else to force his attention on, like the many wonders of the oxygen garden… whatever the case, be careful if you decide to approach him.

and definitely make sure you're not on the verge of another bleed. ]

( OOC NOTE: totally open log for anyone to tag into!! you're free to make up your own scenes too, seeing as dean's just sort of stumbling around. if you want something specific to happen (example; someone gets hurt) please let me know! also, if your character ends up suddenly bleeding, he will most likely attack, but if you'd rather that not happen, then he'll get the hell out of there.

all scenes will end with him leaving though, one way or another, and the entirety of this mess will come to an end with a closed tyke+reaper thread. :3 otherwise anything goes. )

Goddammit I hit track on this

[And Edgeworth is watching for it, so he sees it and stops just short of it. It's good magic, better than Edgeworth expected - subtle, really, impressively subtle - and he's so caught up in examining and admiring it (the rippling effect looking almost sublime to his sleepy eyes) that he doesn't really spend much time examining Winchester's face. (And, when he does look up, he sees that Winchester looks like crap; hardly anything new.)]

I'd like a moment of your time if you can spare it, Mr. Winchester.

[He's in full fussy mode, sounding officious and blustery and stiff. He's not cognizant of it, but it's a remarkable contrast to how he was just a few moments earlier, walking down the hall with Sirius, relaxed and casual. To his credit, he doesn't look down at the swamp again after that initial admiration, and he does sound firm and businesslike.]

May we?

[And Sirius can't help himself. He flops back, back pressed to the wall, and begins to laugh. Maybe on another day, with a bit more sleep, he might be more inclined to hold his silence and dignity and composure (what little of the latter two that he has), but today, he is tired and worn out and this is funny.

He has to see it again, this picture-perfect prank with its--so far!--picture-perfect execution. First he leans around the corner--but that's not enough, and he scrambles to his feet, grinning.]

Well, that's a job well done. So far.

[It's Edgeworth's first prank, and so Sirius slaps bracingly at his shoulder, as proud of him as he is of his own work.]

Ooh, it is sticky--might have done a bit extra, sorry-- don't struggle, mate, only makes it worse--
jurisimpudent: (smiling sort of nicely)

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-09-21 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Edgeworth, too - Edgeworth gives a laugh himself, clapping Sirius on the shoulder as well. It's a bit of an unusual sound - not just because there's an edge of the hysterical in it (without this severe sleep deprivation, he'd have kept his cool, not giggled) but also because it is, without question, the first time he's laughed honestly and genuinely in Dean's presence. And, indeed, this isn't some mean, derisive snicker - the prank is nasty, perhaps, but his laughter about it isn't nasty - but something much lighter.]

As remarkable a feat as ever, Sirius.

[And, still grinning, he turns to Dean.]

Now, Mr. Winchester. You'll be released when you apologize for - for leading Mr. Black's girlfriend into temptation.

Ooh, now, hang on--

[Sirius glances away from the scene of triumph for a moment, his nose wrinkled slightly.]

That's just petty. I'm not half so petty as that, and it's in the past. Though I hear he did make her cry, which I don't like to hear about, sort of gets under my skin--no, but that's not our sole motivation here, y'know. Even that was just the final bit of this, what started it is really that you-- [And he grins back at Dean, once more, still firmly stuck, obviously, well done, Sirius, good swamping--] --are something of a prick.

And I really would stop struggling, if I were you, you will get yourself into far more trouble. An apology would free you all the faster, but I'm not holding my breath for that one, mate.
jurisimpudent: (stressed)

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-09-22 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that we're holding you captive.

[He does hold up his hand, making sure he's doing his moral duty. His voice is earnest.]

This - isn't any form of blackmail, and you will be released in time without suffering any physical duress in the least. You've my word on that.

[But that duty dispensed with, he drops his hand - ]

Sirius is quite right, though. You are quite a - [He can't bring himself to use the word "prick" - ] An unpleasant person, most of the time. Frankly, if you'd wandered into a swamp of your own volition, I'd think that merely karma.
doggedly: (pic#3067301)

[personal profile] doggedly 2013-09-23 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Liar, on that first bit, because Sera's as good as said it's a lie (and perhaps if Sirius were less tired and less inclined to careen straight into jealousy--well, he still wouldn't devote much time to considering the subtlety of language, slept with versus slept with--but he might be a bit slower to react). But he only smiles, tightly, at that--it's the give it a few years that really gets to him, so his smile there is really almost more baring his teeth.]

Really. I'll say it again, you keep up that struggling, you're not going to be doing anything in a few years. [An empty threat--yeah, he could potentially sink beneath the swamp and die, but he won't--not that he has to know that.] Not sleeping with anyone, certainly not with her, and certainly not showing us anything unpleasant. It gets more unpleasant for you, with the struggling. Just so you know.

Apologising might be your best bet, but if you're unwilling... [He sighs, like this causes him some real pain to hear.] Then you do it to yourself, just as you've gotten yourself into this mess in the first place. You really have to watch where you're walking.
jurisimpudent: (tetchy)

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-09-23 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Edgeworth does glance over at Sirius, his brows very slightly furrowed, because - was that a threat of death? Well - Well, regardless, they are united in this, he and Sirius - it is a joint prank - and so he is not going to question what Sirius is saying. Instead, he is going to look fierce, and perhaps nod a little bit, and is going to back up everything Sirius says (after that initial look of uncertainty) with a look of certainty.

And he's going to throw in this comment:]

Also, that bit about wait a few years was disgusting. Shame on you, Mr. Winchester.
doggedly: (pic#3067336)

[personal profile] doggedly 2013-09-24 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
We could, actually, leave you there.

[He says it carelessly, leaning his elbow on his knee, his chin in his hand, so his fingers are sort of curled in front of his mouth, caging in his smirk. He won't, of course, but he could, and it's that possibility that makes a prank like this a little cruel and definitely something that leaves an impression. Leaves you open for retaliation as well, but Sirius has never minded retaliation. He welcomes it.]

And for--what, like the fifth time?--you're the one working yourself into it. I only set it up, you walked in, and now you keep struggling, despite my attempts to tell you how to get yourself out. Apologies, obviously, that's the easiest way. But if you keep struggling, it only gets worse, and I've said this all already, so I won't bother repeating myself. I know you're a bit panicked, but do try to keep it fixed in your head, take it to heart--form an apology and stop writhing around, it's embarrassing.

[And, before Edgeworth can get hung up on security rules, he adds--]

Also, it's a prank. Pretty sure there's no rules against pranks.

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-09-24 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[But it doesn't take much to get Edgeworth hung up on Security rules. There's a look of profound discomfort on his face for a moment after Dean says that; Edgeworth shakes his head a moment after, and tries to sound self-assured, but it's not too hard to read his uncertainty.]

Indeed. There are rules against doing you harm, but there will not be any harm done to you.

[And Edgeworth might be prickly - he might be a jerk, at times, might be unkind and unfair, and he might be quite sleep-deprived and a bit loopy, and he might deeply dislike and resent Dean Winchester - but he glances over at Sirius, and with a little frown of apology, he says:]

And we won't be leaving you here. You have my word.

[Because he can't just hear someone expressing fear - you can't leave me here - and let them continue to be afraid. As much as he hates Winchester, the thought of causing him real distress is unconscionable.]

[personal profile] doggedly 2013-09-26 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[Edgeworth you girl's blouse. That frown of apology is not accepted, but Sirius does his best to move on. It's his first time, after all. He's yet an infant at pranks and swamping people and things; be patient with him, Black. Never mind that he's single-handedly ruined the effectiveness of their threats, he'll learn from this mistake.

But he's distracted from that by Dean's suggestion. There's a brief silence, tinged by incredulity, and then Sirius laughs.]

Oh, wow, you must think I'm a child. I un-magic you out of your cozy swamp and then you apologise. Mate, I've been conning first years with that same set-up for years now, I'm not falling for it.

But we can barter. Say, a general loosening of your swamp, and then an apology, and then I'll set you free. And it's not me you're apologising to, it's Edgeworth, for being such a wanker to him. [He raises his eyebrows, surveying the situation before him.] I'd offer to shake your hand on it, but uh, I don't want to get swamp on my hands, so let's just have a verbal agreement. Are we all in agreement?
jurisimpudent: (stressed)

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-09-26 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a good thing Sirius spoke; Edgeworth had been about to agree, as that had sounded to him a decent agreement. But at once he realizes that, yes, of course Dean would simply climb out and then walk away...Edgeworth does not consider himself naive, but he is perhaps new to duplicity of this precise sort. New to...well, blackmail.

That sounds really bad, thinking of it as blackmail.

So he nods firmly, tries to sound brusque and businesslike and not at all nervous and uncomfortable.]

There we are, then. A quick apology and a clean resolution. For...

[He falters, then, feeling suddenly self-conscious about the reasons behind their demands. He tries to stiffen his spine:]

For your phenomenal lack of comportment and stunning rudeness. Which you cannot, I think, deny. I am in agreement.
doggedly: (pic#4599210)

[personal profile] doggedly 2013-10-01 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sirius' grin had started anew at the start of all of that. Fuck what, exactly? If it's fuck you, that's more insults, and he would be perfectly justified in deeping that swamp a little more, just to teach Dean a lesson.

But then he agrees, to the terms. That's both satisfying and not. Sirius taps his wand against his knee, almost thoughtfully, as if he's trying to decide whether or not he accepts....]

You sound terribly reluctant. I dunno. I might need more conviction. [But a second later and he adds, cheerfully:] Yeah, all right--

[A wave of his wand, again, and it's like muddy water in a storm drain. Schlurrpt, and there, that's the swamp, a little looser--more like a thick mud than a proper swamp, but still restrictive enough to prevent any sudden escapes.]
jurisimpudent: (stressed)

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-10-04 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's a relief. That's excellent, truly. It's a detente, after a fashion, and a detente is perfect - excellent - because the last thing he wants is for this to escalate into threats of actual abandonment or drowning or anything of the sort. He's not willing to let anyone really think they're truly in mortal peril.

That comes across in his voice when he speaks. More levelly, he encourages Dean:]

Well done.

[Which he would register as condescending, were he less sleep-deprived, were he more rational; as it stands, it seems a perfectly reasonable thing to say.]

Now the apology.
doggedly: (pic#3067336)

[personal profile] doggedly 2013-10-08 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's another pause, as Sirius taps his wand against his leg again, reviewing the apology--and then he sniffs, dismissively.]

Is that all? Merlin, but you've not often made apologies, have you--not that I'm surprised, great prat like you-- is he due to be released, Edgeworth? D'you think he's atoned enough?

I think it's better than nothing, anyways--and it's a wand, by the way, thanks. Rude.

[But he waves his wand anyways, magnanimously, and the swamp begins to loosen a little more--slowly, dissipating. It's like a sudden platform has risen below the floor for Dean to stand on, and it rises, slowly, as the swamp dissipates, so soon he'll be lying on his stomach as if he'd tripped.]
jurisimpudent: (stressed)

[personal profile] jurisimpudent 2013-10-08 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Edgeworth, for his part, is quite satisfied with the apology; it is, frankly, far more than he was expecting - contained no rebelliously muttered curse words or taunts - and, really, given that they were blackmailing him for it, it's really quite a bit more than the two of them deserve. So Edgeworth nods firmly and says - ]

I count that as quite gracious, to be frank.

[And then, as a gesture of peace, he steps forward and leans down to offer his hand, to help him up - so that he'll come out of it standing rather than stumbling and fumbling.]
