[ peter all but snorts at the comment, wondering how much 'tugging around' neal's possibly seen of his life. ] You don't actually have to feed me, but- I don't mind. We'll figure it out. [ being tugged around since birth - everyone from his parents to claude to adam to nathan - just means it's one more person to pull him along the way. to point him in a direction.

I hardly ever do things I have to. It's a character flaw, really. [ it's a surprise how much this feels less like putting on a show and more like a relief; he's had to play the part thrust onto him by the ship for so long, sinking back into just needing to be charming is a release in and of itself. ] Just ask Peter— Burke, there are a few of you around. Anyway, he'll tell you all about how I only do things I feel like doing and con junior agents to taking on basic responsibilities.

[ he snorts at the comment about sark, stepping into the lift after peter and sending it rushing soundlessly upwards. ] Not a fan? I can't imagine why.

[ peter's entirely unaware when it came to whether or not he's in the process being charmed. not because he doesn't care if he's being lied to, but because he's got other things to worry about and if neal wants to woo him with all sorts of lies and facades then fine. he was welcome to it. but peter shoved everything so hard down to earth that sometimes he couldn't see past the naivety of the possibilities. ] Not sure I need to ask him about it- i'll just... take your word on it. Doesn't change the fact that I can feed myself...
