[This time, more than a few of the memories River's been seeing have been of the Tranquility. She quickly comes to the conclusion that she doesn't know who's on the other side of the link, but eventually she catches a glimpse of the woman's passenger number and wastes no time in contacting her.]

Hello. Shall we do lunch?

[As much as she hates the thought of others seeing into her mind, there's no reason to take it out on the innocent. She appears to be quite calm and casual about the whole thing.]

I suspect it's in both of our best interests. I'll see you in the kitchens, unless you'd prefer somewhere more private.

[River closes the video feed and goes to find the necessary materials for a couple of sandwiches while she waits. She's never felt the need to be much of a cook, after all.]

Hello. [She extends a hand for Bela to shake.] River Song.

[It's said with a bit more emphasis than usual. She wants to be clear that if Bela's heard anyone call her by anything else in a memory, it's not the name she goes by now.]
backwardscompatible: (You bring your knees in tight.)

Indeed. It's always nice to meet someone in a similar line of work to oneself, after all.

[River may have channeled her own thieving tendencies into a more-or-less legitimate career, but it certainly wasn't out of any moral compunction.]

Yes, let's.

[She takes her sandwich and goes to find somewhere.]

I have a feeling we may be here a while.

I'd be surprised if there was anyone on board who would choose it. We'll just have to deal with it as best we can.

[Which in River's case generally means lying anyway and hoping they haven't seen anything to contradict it.]
backwardscompatible: (Like you're under sedation.)

I suspect that of the two of us, my life is more confusing to see in snippets, so go on.

[That and she'd rather know what Bela knows sooner rather than later.]

Not a bad summary. I do try to keep the archaeology separate to the time travel when I can, though. It's less fun otherwise.

My diary is rather well-used, as you can imagine.

But enough about me. [River thinks she has a fair handle on what Bela's probably seen, now.] What about you? Have you ever been caught?

[The emphasis being on 'you' with the hopeful implication that the reason Bela's seen River in prison is because she got caught stealing.]

The urge for alcohol wasn't a strange one for Murphy. It was hard to tell if this was just a momentary reprieve from being stuck in someone else's head, or if this was part of another link he had with another person once again. If so, then they at least had better taste than he did.

Murphy could be found in the bar area, serving himself up drinks for the last hour or so. Though in actuality he had lost track of the time. His head whirled with all kinds of places he had never seen before, never traveled to. He never went that far beyond the familiarity of the place he had made his home.

It wasn't that bad, at first. He might have even reveled in the memories for a few brief moments as he went to grab his glass of finer whiskey to drink.

And then some really smelly shit hit the fan.

The glass dropped without Murphy even realizing it, his hand swinging up over his face. As if covering his eyes would somehow stop the things he saw, or lived through. It shouldn't even come as a surprise... everyone had their baggage to carry. Some more than others. It still didn't make him feel any less sick to his stomach.
