[Closed] An Awkward Brunch

CHARACTERS: Nomi Sunrider and the rest of the Star Wars cast
LOCATION: Holodecks
WARNINGS: Language and possible Roomba on Roomba violence
SUMMARY: There are a lot of folks from the same galaxy who've decided that it's time for all of them to meet. And have brunch.

It's been a few days since Nomi's suggestion and she's taken the time to pull together a simulation on one of the holodecks. It's not much, just a simple stateroom with a simulated view of the Coruscant skyline (circa BBY 3992 sadly), with tables for people to eat and talk, a long row of trays for self-prepared dishes, and all the little holographic creature comforts that people from a Galaxy Far Far away might want. Have some familiar food, point and laugh at Solo, and try and be nice to the folks in the Old Republic Corner...

[OOC: I figure everyone can put up comments of their own and tag around that way. It'd be easier than massive threads, and lets the awkward slowly spread around.]

Jaina isn't sure if this idea is a good one that will do what it sets out to do or if it's a terrible one that will end in a rather large, headache-inducing argument and likely bloodshed. Personally she's leaning a bit more toward the latter. You just couldn't do things like stick her dad and a bunch of Jedi together in a room without something going awry, after all. That went against the laws of nature or something.

Either way, though, she shows up mostly because she said she would but also because, really, why not? Even if things turn awful, it should make for an interesting time.

She even brought food. An air cake. It's one of the very, very few things she knows how to make that's edible and, despite limited supplies, has managed to come up with ingredients that make for pretty good facsimiles of the real ones. She made two, technically, but one was used solely as a taste test and she opted to leave what remained of it in her room. The other one, though, she takes to the table as soon as she comes in before casting a glance around.

The image of Coruscant is one she barely recognizes, one she's never seen except for in holos, and almost immediately it draws her full attention. Everyone else have fun, you guys, Jaina's just going to stare, a bit slack-jawed and in obvious awe, at an image that's been so riddled with change, and war, by her time that she only just barely knows what she's even looking at.

It had been strange enough, getting used to a grown daughter. And yet, that wasn't nearly as strange as suddenly finding himself with a grown granddaughter. Sometimes it was best to simply accept that so long as he was on Tranquility, nothing about his life was ever going to make sense.

And, well, he would never know Jaina, if things weren't completely strange. So he should make the most of it. "She's done an impressive job, hasn't she?"

Unlike the assorted Jedi on board, Bail is actually quite handy arond the kitchen. And thus he arrived with a carefully spiced egg and cheese dish. An old Alderaanian recipe.

The skyline isn't quite the one who knows, of course. But there are enough key features for it to be quite familiar all the same. Enough to make him smile as he sets the dish down.

Mara Jade, for all her ability to deny the fact that she didn't need allies, and wasn't looking for them -- needed allies. There were people here that she knew, although most of them seemed to be ones that didn't know her, which was a problem. Leia, Solo, the few that she did know were here, were ones that she couldn't necessarily speak with. She had read enough theoretical physics that she knew the dangers if she broke any temporal restrictions. There were things she probably didn't need to do. Then there were others that did know her, or didn't know her at all.

Out of her element, she was, but thankfully, she was good at adapting. She could, and would adapt.

That being said, she arrived with drinks as promised, and nothing else. Mara knew the basics of cooking, and knew to feed herself. Anything more, and they were looking for a miracle. She certainly wasn't going to cook for anyone else. There were better things they could be eating, anyway.

Drinks, surprisingly,y, were non-alcoholic, even. Something that was probably a miracle, especially considering who would be here.

Bail thought he knew all those from their universe on board, but it seemed he'd missed one. Given that she was at the gathering, she must be, though not from his time.

Though that didn't really narrow things down at all, given those not from his time ranged from those thousands of years before him and, well, his granddaughter. "I don't believe we've met."

Mara turned her head at the voice, the face. Bail Organa might not know her, but she knew too many faces, especially high ranking officials from planets like Alderaan. The Emperor had been much too thorough in her training.

She didn't let the recognition hit her face, instead, leaving it pleasantly neutral. "I don't think we have. Mara Jade, and you are?" she asked, holding out her hand for a shake.

At least she'd also been given the ability to lie. No need to let in how much she knew. That wasn't something anyone wanted to hear about.

Jade... no, that wasn't a name that rang a bell with him. It was a big galaxy, and a vast timeline. There were a multitude of reasons he might not know this woman. But this was the moment to change that. Even if they were distant in time, Nomi was right. They were from the same galaxy and that gave them a certain common ground.

He extended a hand. "Bail Organa, of Alderaan."

"Bail Organa," she replied, taking his hand in a quick but firm shake. She didn't hold his hand for long, but long enough to effectuate politeness, before she tipped a hand to the rest of the room.

"So I guess this means we're from the same place, in some form or fashion. I'm familiar with Alderaan, at least. Nice to find someone who's probably familiar with the same starcharts that I am, at least."

It was strange, how much you took a simple thing like a star chart for granted until you were flung into a place surrounded by unfamiliar stars. Yet it drew them to people far removed in time. "It would seem so. Whereabouts in the galaxy are you from?"

wow i butchered that dialogue up there my bad

"Coruscant," she said simply, the clipped slight imperial tone coming through. Not necessarily the truth, Mara Jade didn't know where she exactly was from, but she'd been raised at the seat of imperial power, and only later did she move to a more transient state.

Then again, the fall of the empire had essentially guaranteed that one.

"Seems like there are a lot of us from the core worlds."
