i never thought I'd go this far
CHARACTERS: peter & claire
LOCATION: gardens!
WARNINGS: none!
SUMMARY: peter and claire talk about idk things. IMPORTANT THINGS!!
NOTES: backdated to... after the jump.
[ izzie didn't really need a leash anymore, keeping to peter's side well enough because they'd done this more than enough times. walking through the halls, she wasn't meant to go wandering off unless peter was right there with her -- a protective instinct from childhood. his dog - his - kept him feeling as if he had someone who was all his to care for, and he was just as much hers.
but when they got to the gardens? all bets were off. stepping off the lift into her favorite place, izzie rushed off into the nearby brush, snuffling wherever her heart wanted her to go. peter was far less concerned for her safety here, though maybe it was just because he wanted to be. he wanted it to be a safe haven for reasons he couldn't explain, especially when nathan's presence occupied certain parts of it. a presence he was avidly trying to avoid for far too many reasons right now. most of them involving a furious amount of distress, hating every conversation they'd had over the past month for just how little nathan tried to understand. the rest all had to do with spike.
as izzie skidded by in another direction, she stopped in her tracks, stopping to sniff at the actual path before lifting her head, wagging her tail that much more excitedly. ] Claire? [ glancing around, peter took a few steps forward before he found her, izzie trampling through brush to get to her that much faster. ]
Good to see you.

Good to see you.

Hey, you! [She wastes no time in giving him a hug.] It's good to see you too. [Next she looks down at Izzie, petting her for a second.] And you too.
[Stepping back a step or two, she peers up at Peter with a smile on her face but obvious concern in her eyes.]
How're you doing?
no subject
even if she knew things she refused to explain.
grinning broadly as he immediately pulls her into a tight hug, peter steps back. while watching izzie is amusing enough, she runs off a few seconds later, leaving peter smile back and nod towards one of the paths. ]
I'm okay. Actually kind of glad for the jump this time around.

Heading toward the path he'd indicated, she glanced over at him as they walked.]
Did anybody you know leave or anything, this time around?
[She's pretty sure Peter wants to discuss something, if only based on their conversation before. However she's not going to press him and totally doesn't mind idle chatter while hanging out with him, either. Just being near him is enough to make her feel better. Safer. Happier.]
