CHARACTERS: Thor Odinson & Anyone
LOCATION: Oxygen Gardens
WARNINGS: None for now.
SUMMARY: Thor is exploring the ship and found his way to the gardens.
level one
[The cold, mechanical atmosphere of the ship has become somewhat oppressive. Thor is not used to living in such sterile surroundings.
He had heard that there were gardens on board, and decided to see for himself. However, when he finally locates and enters the gardens, the vast room he finds is not at all what he expected. There is plant life, but there is also the ever-present technology, keeping it all running.
He wanders down various pathways, gazing at the various plants and their attendant machines with obvious confusion, but also great interest.]
level three
[The overgrown wilderness of the upper levels is more what Thor was hoping to find. The hum of the ship is still there, but it's muffled by the greenery and plant life. He finds a small clearing and sits, leaning against a tree with his eyes closed.
Of course he never could remain still for long. Eventually he sits up straighter, taking Mjolnir into his hands. There has been a strangeness to the hammer ever since he arrived on board, and he wants to try calling its power, in a small, very controlled way.
After a few long moments of concentration, he succeeds in calling sparks to the hammer's head. He only holds them there for a moment before letting the gathered energy dissipate harmlessly. The frown on his face seems to indicate that the attempt was not as successful as he would have liked.]

Making her way to him with light footsteps, she nods at his question.]
My connection with the Force isn't what it should be. It's part of who I am, what connects everyone and everything, but it's... not all there. Hasn't been since I woke up here.
[Her gaze drops to his weapon then slides back up to his face.]
It's something about this ship. Something's affecting folks.
no subject
It is much the same with my connection to my weapon, Mjolnir. Normally I can call lightning or even a thunderstorm without much effort, but now it is much harder.
I don't understand how this vessel can affect such things.

Whoever, or whatever, is behind it, it's about managing us. The rest I guess we'll figure it out whenever it's revealed. [She flashes him a smirk.] Personally, I think they're idiots for arming us in the first place. You give people hope, they'll figure out a way to overcome the odds.

I am Thor Odinson. Might I know your name?
no subject
I'm Jaina Solo. It's nice to meet you.
[She pauses, tilts her head a bit as though considering something. She sounds curious when she speaks again.]
Not to pry, and feel free to tell me it's none of my business, but any chance you've ever heard of anything that could affect Mjolnir, or your connection to it? [A theory. She's forming one.]
no subject
The only person who has ever been able to affect Mjolnir enough to keep it from me was my father. And I am fairly certain that the Allfather is not on board this ship.
no subject
Back home, it would take an extremely powerful Force user to affect another's connection like this. I've never heard of any technology that could do it. [A pause and she lets out a sudden puff of air and scrubs a hand down her face.] Which means I'm wrong. It's probably a someone, not a something, that's responsible here...
[Slowly she grins again, her gaze refocusing on Thor as her hand drops back to her side.] But, if it is someone, they can be stopped. Everyone has a weakness.

[He's actually more interested in how she made that metal thing fly to her hand.]
Was that magic you used just now?
no subject
No, it's not magic. It's the Force. [Okay, that's not explaining things. She tries that again.]
The Force is what we use to refer to... well, everything. All that connects us. I'm sensitive to it, can sense it in a way that others can't. [A small shrug.] Where I'm from, those of us who are sensitive to the Force can receive training to become a Jedi. We learn how to hone what we can do, how to rely on the Force, and use it, to keep harmony and balance in the galaxy.
[The grin returns.]
Being able to move stuff with our brains is one of the first things we learn how to do. I don't usually flaunt it like that but, well [her look turns pointed and she tips her head toward him] I wasn't about to come over here to meet you while armed until I knew if you'd consider me a threat or not. You're a big enough presence in the Force to me to know you can pack a punch.
no subject
[Despite her explanation, it still sounds like magic to Thor. He makes a mental note of the words 'Force' and 'Jedi' though.
It's obvious from her caution and her explanation that she's had training, but one thing does confuse him.]
And that piece of metal is your weapon?
[He didn't get a very good look at it, but he doesn't remember seeing any kind of blade. And it's rather short for a staff.]
no subject
[Even as she answers, she's already pulling her weapon from its spot on her belt. Holding the hilt in her hand, she keeps her gaze on Thor while turning her body slightly so as not to cut him with it.
When she activates the blade, it's a violet hue and there's the ever-present low hum, barely noticeable, in the background. With a twist of her arm, both the blade moves accordingly and, as she slices upward sharply, the tone of the hum changes in frequency as well.]
It's called a lightsaber. We build them ourselves, during training. It's plasma that's kept suspended in a Force shield, projected through special crystals that create the color of the blade. There isn't much they can't cut through, though the hull of this ship seems impervious.
[She speaks from experience on that particular subject.]
no subject
The blade is purely energy? I have never seen such a weapon before. The weapons and shields of the Einherjar of Asgard are enhanced with magic, but they are still metal underneath.
[He glances around and picks up a broken branch of medium thickness.]
Could I beg your indulgence for a small demonstration?
no subject
Sure thing.
[It's an effortless move, one that takes little more than a flick of her wrist, and the broken branch is sliced neatly in half. She brings her weapon back to her side when she finishes and meets Thor's gaze with an easy smile.]
And yeah, it's pure energy. Rule number one we learn as younglings. Don't touch the glowing end.
[Her head tilts a bit as she deactivates her lightsaber. There's curiosity both in her tone and expression.]
Asgard is your home, I take it?
no subject
He tosses the piece away as he answers her question.]
Yes. Asgard is one of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil.
[His answer is a little distracted as he's preoccupied by other thoughts. Thor raises his arm, and Mjolnir flies from the ground to his hand. He looks at it thoughtfully. It's made of Uru, one of the strongest metals known, and he's curious what effect, if any, her blade would have on it.
Any other time he might try it, but since Mjolnir has already been diminished somehow by the ship, perhaps now is not the best time to take a chance on damaging his weapon. He hangs the hammer from his belt instead.]
The realms could also be described as nine planets. They are in separate areas of space, but connected by pathways that allow us to travel between them.
