CHARACTERS: DG [personal profile] daughteroflight and YOU
LOCATION: common room, deck 252
WARNINGS: Not a single one I can think of.
SUMMARY: Just because you're stuck on a spaceship an impossible distance from (and maybe a perpendicular reality to) your world doesn't mean you can't do magical homework. Even if it is fifteen years late.
NOTES: Come bug the resident witch, really anything goes!

Spinning the doll has become simple. DG can float it from one hand to the other without thinking, and away from herself pretty much as far as she wants. She's started work on lifting things without spinning them and can hover and move her sketch book, plates (without food, she'd learned she wasn't that steady), and even move a chair out for herself before sitting.

She's tried shifting the bureau in her room but it'd only raised up maybe half a foot before a funny vertigo had set in and it'd crashed back onto the floor. Crawl before you walk, walk before you run.

Now she's juggling, working on balance. She's got her sketch book, a glass half-full of water, a throw pillow, and a recorder borrowed from the music room in orbit around herself and a look of deep concentration on her face. Both hands are held up, and the circular mark on her left palm glows brightly.

This is clearly the perfect time to interrupt her.

Feeling nearly euphoric (not to mention well-rested) after successfully brewing his Dreamless Sleep potion (which thankfully hadn't required any difficult-to-obtain ingredients such as sloth brain or powdered unicorn horn. He'd found insects and slugs in the Oxygen Garden, but procuring things such as dragon scales and porcupine quills might prove to be more of a challenge. He wondered if he were to leave a list in his locker, if he might find a few of the more essential items in there after the next jump. It was worth a try), Snape was actually venturing out of his quarters without having a particular purpose in mind, other than simply going for a walk. And possibly amicable interaction with any non-objectionable persons he might encounter. Or in other words, anyone who isn't Sparrow. Or Lupin.

He's in a good mood - mark this moment for posterity.

So when he crosses the threshold of one of the common rooms and is greeted with the sight of a young (and presumably magical) woman in the midst of what resembles a sun/planets impersonation, he doesn't make a cutting remark about universes and how they don't revolve around teenagers (although she does look to be slightly older).

"What exactly, are you hoping to accomplish there? Aside from parlor tricks, that is." Because apparently he can't stop being critical altogether.

He is not especially concerned about the proximity of the sketchbook—what genuinely surprises him is to not be wearing that glass of water right now, which in the past had been more or less a matter of course when dealing with inept students. A point to you, DG for not immediately confirming his expectations.

Before proceeding any farther into the room, Snape cast an eye over the rest of the 'practice' objects, assessing the hazard potential. No sharp objects; another point in her favor.

"Your apparent lack of focus is not going to be remedied by dividing it." Isn't he helpful?
