darling please, let's get out of here.
CHARACTERS: teresa (
a1) & hyperion (
nightblogs)
LOCATION: various, out and about the ship.
WARNINGS: none for now!
SUMMARY: hyperion offers a distraction for teresa, as well as keeps her away from engineering.
NOTES: hideously backdated before the jump.
[ want me to get you outta there? he asks. and teresa thinks she hasn't heard a question she wanted to say yes to so badly. she wants out of her room, out of this spaceship, out of this world and back to her friends who need her. even if their world was messed up, the thought of leaving them alone — leaving tom alone — drives her out of her mind. the mess of puzzles and hallucination on this ship isn't doing much to help.
the most she can do is take a step back. she reluctantly leaves the questions behind for now and goes to clear her head out the hallway as she waits for hyperion. she doesn't even know that much about him, but she already trusts him more than most (surprising for a guy who sneezed blood on her when they met). maybe it's because he reminds her the boys in the glade; he'd fit right in.
she leans against one of the pillars, arms crossed as she waits. she didn't bother sitting in her room any longer, obsessed over everything happening on the network. but when she sees him approaching, there's a touch of relief in her expression. ]
It's not nice to keep a soon-to-be crazy girl waiting, ya know?

You doing okay? [His tone isn't exactly awkward, but it's obvious he's not... used to being the one taking care of people. Call it the result of being the youngest of three. Hyperion wants to help, though - that much is obvious.] You don't need me to take you to the meds or anything, do ya?

[ there is so much irony in that comment that she practically laughs at herself. it's a terrible inside joke that she will maybe share with him one day.
but she ends up smiling and nodding at him. she probably hasn't been okay for a while, it's just manageable at the moment. ]
I said soon to be, not actually crazy. I'm fine. I'm big, strong girl.
[ then she motions for him to head toward the lifts. she wants far away from her room right now. ]
no subject
[But he's smiling when he says that, and follows her gesture gladly. To the lifts they go.]
Gardens, right?

[ the two words are muttered, more of a sigh when she says that. she sounds slightly dejected about it, considering her recent freak-out on the network and being tortured by numbers that don't mean anything (as far as she knows but refuses to believe).
the moment passes though, as she stands beside him in the lift. her blue eyes turn up to him as she answers. ]
This might sound weird, but I've actually had enough of that kind of environment. Unless there's something you think I might find interesting?

[... until the rabbit showed up. Never mind.]
Or we could go to that place with all the ships? They got windows there. It's pretty cool lookin' at space while you're in it.
[At which point he pulls a joint from his pocket.]
Especially when you're smoking.
no subject
Smoking. Is that what you do? It would explain why you're so okay with everything all the time.
[ it would appear she's a little more straight-laced than him. well, she technically doesn't know that she's never smoked, but the habit doesn't appeal to her. not when she would prefer a clear head. ]
You know a holodeck is probably healthier.
[ if he's looking for something artificial. ]
no subject
[and he actually comes from a world where creepy shit abounds and knocks on your door to sell you things, so. Y'know.]
Don't tell me you're against it. I mean - won't smoke around you if you don't like it or anything, it's cool.

[ teresa can definitely agree with his point there. it's like a never-ending parade of fear, for as far back as she can remember. but then: ] —It's fine. I don't care, I just would rather spend my time working things out.
[ solve it, survive, get out. it's her main priorities and she can't see that changing, if if this is meant to be a distraction. she's stubborn like that. ]
Come on, let's look around. You're supposed to get me out of my room.

[The ride to the shuttle bay is short and sweet - in Hyperion's view, anyway. Both hands are shoved in his jacket, and he sways lightly on his feet, inching up his shoulders to stretch his (nonexistent) muscles.]
Hey - after we're done chilling maybe we could check out the bar. It's pretty cool.

[ teresa has been to the shuttle bay, but there's nothing that gets old about seeing the outside. it's a reminder that there is something out there, and there's a way to get home — unless it's all not real (it wouldn't be the first). she's heard that the ship has made pit stops before.
she picks at the sleeve of her hoodie as she heads toward the windows, occasionally glancing at the ships around them. if only they could just hijack one and leave. she knows it's not a smart idea. ]
Sure, I've actually never been. I'm guessing there are no age laws for drinking out in space.
[ there's a smile. she wishes she could remember if that was the case back home. if it even mattered. ]
no subject
Don't count on him to find out.]
Ever seen this many stars? We got nothing like that where I'm from. Think it's the pollution or something.
