June Recon
CHARACTERS: June's recon mission teams (see here)
LOCATION: The spooky unknown of the ship
WARNINGS: Doom and danger (but really: will update if necessary)
SUMMARY: June's recon mission to explore and map the unknown parts of the Tranquility, survey spatial weirdness and assess internal structural damage etc etc look it's a long list of goals okay.
NOTES: Takes place from 6/15 onward. When commenting to your team's respective sub-thread or the comms chatter sub-thread, make a note of the day (or mission stage) in the subject line.
Second verse, really damned similar to the first. With May's recon a relative success - no marked bodily injury to report and a whole lot of technical and theoretical data to sort through -, it should be no surprise to anyone that Shepard's advocated for a second trip into the ship. A cycle of scraping and training and petty ship politics and here they all are, field operatives and comm liaisons alike: meeting at 0800hrs in the rec-room-turned-war-room on Deck 0023, otherwise known as Shepard's base of operations since the completion of the last mission.
There's some scuffle getting all the equipment sorted between the fireteams. For one, there's simply more of it this month - packs and drones and two-way mirrors and miscellaneous gear. Shepard herself has a length of rope coiled in her pack. If they run across a chasm this month, she's not going to be leaning over the edge of it without sending a survey drone on a rope down first. Eventually though she separates herself from the minor chaos and moves to the front of the assembly. Like last month, she raises her hand over her head, issues what may be a familiar call: "Eyes up!
"You know your gear, you know why we're here and how the communication check in's should operate so I'll spare you the crap. But I want this to be as clean as last cycle's mission was - understood? First timers: use your resources. If you have someone with you who's been in the ship before, I expect you to defer to their judgement."
Standing there at the front of them, she looks like tired than she has in days - weeks. Feels it too. She raises the line of her chin, shoulders square.
"See you all back here in a few days."

The mapping device is also Stark's realm. It would be better if they can split the duties a little more evenly between three people, but they don't have that luxury this time around. If someone wants to consider it lazy, so be it, but if John is leading this team and is on the front line, he has no interest in having his attention divided between where his gun's pointing and where they're located on a little bleeping screen. That's not safety in his book, and after the debauchery that was his mission in South America, he's not compromising on that front again.
The rest of their supplies he divides by weight, keeping the heavier shit in his pack. That way it looks pretty even without necessarily being so. John's pretty proud of those logistics even if no one else is.
Then they are off, informing Hill they would get in touch with her just outside their designated area to make sure communication is working properly. Thankfully, several of their hallways from Medical Bay are simple back-tracking. ]
How's our position look?
[ Hopefully the mapping device is doing its job properly, an easy control experiment inside the more routinely walked hallways of the ship. ]

That's basically just a long paragraph for: 'Tony didn't turn into a five year old over the way their jobs were delegated.' He doesn't really call attention to it either way, really, just takes the pack he's handed and the handhelds he needs and goes to follow mon capitane. ]
Looks fine to me. Coloring within the lines and everything.

Hill, this is Reap--Grimm. [ Alright, already off to a good start. ] You copy?

You're coming through. Are you two going to be okay out there? ( Maybe half meaning Stark don't aggravate the marine, and Grimm don't hit Stark if he aggravates you. She'd like her team back in one piece and for any incidents to be ship-wide, not team-wide )

[ He double checks all of his everything, again, since things seem to be going well at the moment and all and it's not a bad time for it, keeps the drone nearby until they actually need it to be doing some proper scouting - i.e., when the lines start to dash and dot their way around. ] Why, you wanna trade? We'll be fine.
