thirty-ninth jump;

CHARACTERS: Any and all.
LOCATION: Gravity Couches and beyond.
WARNINGS: Maybe some swearing, or even some violence, and more than likely some implied (and possibly explicit) nakedness.
SUMMARY: Another month, another jump, another round of new faces.
NOTES: A feeling of deep dread greets you as you stumble out of the gravcouch, strong enough to hold you still for a long moment, searching your surroundings for the source of your wariness. Nothing becomes apparent, only your fellow passengers waking up. Eventually you gather the resolve to pick yourself up and start moving, the feeling fading slowly as you progress through routine.

New arrivals will find messages spraypainted across their lockers telling them not to follow their tattoo numbers, and instead to find a room on Floors 001-010.

----------------

YOU͘ ̨WAKE̢ ̧UP ́IN DA̛RKN̢E̕SS̶

There's a breathing tube jammed down your trachea, and you're suspended in a tube of clear blue fluid. Upon registering your level of consciousness, the gravity couch drains the fluid surrounding you and retracts the breathing apparatus; the doors in front of you open, and you're deposited on the floor of a stark, sterile medical bay.

YÓU̴ ̧ĄRE NOT҉ ̷ALǪNE҉

There are others who have come before you, others who are awakening beside you. Some may be familiar to you, perhaps even friends. Others have much less amiable plans. Some are merely alien and inexplicable, but there are always those who might mean you harm.

After you catch your breath and your vision returns, you notice a number on the inside of your forearm. Maybe it's a familiar number. Maybe it means something. Maybe it's just a number. But the number—completely unique to you—is a tattoo, and it does not come off.

If you enter the room adjacent to the medbay, you will find a small locker with your number on it, surrounded by rows upon rows of identical lockers. Inside, you will find a few of your personal items, a communications device, and a ship's uniform in your exact size. The comms device is fully powered and connects directly to the ship's network; it's your only means of communication beyond physical conversation. Upon turning the device on, a neutral, automated voice will say, "Please take the blue lift to the passenger quarters." Any other attempts at communicating with the rest of the network are met only with static.

[Maybe it was the rush of emotions from seeing that Bellamy was alive or how long it had been that made her suddenly run towards him, tightly hugging him with everything she had to make it finally sink in for that he really was here. She closed her eyes just for a moment and relaxed slightly when she felt his arms encircle her waist returning the embrace without hesitation.

Dealing with being on this ship, especially against her will was something she still found unsettling and it was way too reminiscent of her last memory of waking up trapped behind locked doors of a stark white room within Mount Weather. She might still be concerned about that aspect of it but she was just as glad to see him around to help her deal with whatever being on this ship entails.

She knew that if she was confused and lost by all of this, then she can imagine it was even more so with Bellamy since he only just got here only to get caught up in whatever happened between Raven and Finn. She pulls back from the hug, though it's clear just from her expression alone how happy she was to see him]
You're actually okay— I wasn't sure who else made it when we had to separate back at the dropship.

[He releases her from the embrace immediately, hands dropping away from his side, most of the positivity in his expression gone. Reunion over, he's back to grim distaste over this whole affair, back to confusion, disorientation, and fear. He may be surrounded by his people from the ground, and they may seem comfortable in their surroundings, but he sure as hell isn't.

Especially not with Clarke's opening statement; it has his brow furrowing and chin cocking to one side, visibly drawing away from her.]

Back at the- Clarke, what are you talking about?

[They weren't at the dropship the last time he saw her. Then again, the last time he saw Finn, the boy was dying on a post. He still has a few questions about that, by the way, but considering the man himself and Raven had both been hauled away to the ship's prison, those questions had been put on hold.

They surge back up again, adding to his suddenly mounting frustration.]

How- where are we? How is Finn- how did he survive? What the hell is going on here, Clarke?

[For the brief moment she allowed herself to be glad he was here, it was over before she could even blink between the abrupt change in his expression and hearing the questions he was asking her it left her feeling even more confused as he moved away from her] What? You should know what I'm talking about— we got separated after the grounders attack on the camp.

[She doesn't know the answer to any of his questions except for maybe where they are but that much is something she still finds herself questioning during the time she's been here. Why was he asking her about Finn? Did he really not make it? Her voice catches in her throat for a moment just at the thought. She thought he survived because he was here, just like Jasper and Raven who were very much alive but when Bellamy asks her that she's questioning everything all over again feeling equally as frustrated] Bellamy, it's been months since I last saw you. I didn't even know you were alive or anyone else was including Finn so I'm not sure how you expect me to answer that.

I went from waking up being held within Mount Weather to waking up in this place. [And her locker so graciously had only her the clothing that she woke up in when she was there and nothing else which was so not helping her think this wasn't all connected somehow] We're back in space— this ship, it's called the Tranquility. No one seems to know how or why we were brought here or who is even responsible but that's the situation right now.

[His lips part slowly after her first sentence is out, but it just keeps coming. Fact after unbelievable fact, and he starts to shake his head half way through, one hand coming up to stop her. She keeps talking, and he's having a hard time processing it all, until finally he bites out a:]

Wait, wait- stop, no- hold on, slow down-

[The grounder attack was- it can't have been months, and Mount Weather was- ship?

He paces away from her for a second tugging at his hair before whirling around again.]

Clarke, the last time I saw you was yesterday, you killed Finn, remember? Only now it turns out he's alive? That drop ship- Clarke, that's ancient history, there's no way you've forgotten everything since then.

[He's going to have to take this one step at a time, because otherwise he's going to shoot something.]

[Clarke stops finally, slowing down for a moment to let him process the information before she explains further but when Bellamy speaks up again, his words take her by surprise, the disbelief is evident from her face while she is speechless for a good few moments clearly having trouble processing what he is telling her.

"I saw you was yesterday, you killed Finn, remember?" The words echo in her mind and she feels like someone just punched her in the gut. Hearing that she killed Finn is something she is struggling to believe mostly since she doesn't understand why]

I— what? [She shakes her head, still refusing to accept any of it. She trusts Bellamy but at the same time, she wasn't sure what to make of any of this either] No, that can't be true. How am I supposed to remember something that didn't happen?
unguard: (and I look out for you)

[personal profile] unguard 2015-01-11 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Clarke.

[He begins seriously, ducking his head to pin her with a frank, honest look. He's not beating around the bush, he's not softening the blow, his primary concern is that they get on the same page. Feelings are an afterthought, because he's a brash asshole that isn't considering them right now.]

It happened. I saw it, Raven saw it, the entire Ark station saw it, an army of grounders saw it.

[He shifts forward, crossing his arms.]

And if you don't remember it, there's something seriously wrong with you. If there are doctors on this ship, I think we need to see one now.

[She thinks that maybe if she doesn't accept it then won't be real but between seeing the look on his face and hearing his words, she knows he wouldn't making something like that up.

Nothing is making sense to her and it only seems to raise more questions for her. If she didn't feel like she was losing her mind before then this cements it for her. She's not surprised that he thinks there is something wrong with her and for a second she almost believes it because who hell even knows what they even had in her Mount Weather for or what they did to her. She nods though as if in a sort of reluctant sort of acceptance despite the urge she had to argue against it]
Maybe you're right, I don't know, Bellamy.

The last memory I have is exactly what I told you and when I said it's been months that's because I've been on this ship for about two. For Raven, Finn and Jasper it's been longer since they were already here before I got here. [She starts off with that before even touching on asking him to explain everything else, namely the fact that she killed Finn]
unguard: (you were god in my eyes)

[personal profile] unguard 2015-01-11 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
That's not possible.

[He says, denying it vehemently. It's just not- not unless he was in that pod for two months, and he really hopes he wasn't. It can't have been that long, hell, it felt like minutes since he stood there with Raven, since he watched Clarke slip the blade into Finn's abdomen, since he watched the boy go slack and watched Clarke hold her head up high.

His mind flashes back to the fight, though he'd been groggy at the time he still remembers the words spilling out of Finn and Raven. I have to find Clarke, Do you want to die? Because that's what's going to happen-

He stops suddenly, still, tracing a hand over his mouth.]

Raven knows about it, too. She remembers Finn dying, and Finn-

[Well, he at least remembers looking for Clarke, which is a step further than Clarke is, probably.]

This doesn't make any sense.

[He murmurs, pacing toward one of the benches. Slowly, he lowers himself onto it.]

[Hearing Bellamy's response was enough for her to see that her words seemed to get through to him a little bit because much like how she reacted herself, even he thought it wasn't possible.

The moment he mentions that Raven that knows about it, it slowly starts to sink in for her that explained the rather hostile reaction she got from her before Bellamy had to step in. She waits for a moment to let him take in, watching as he moves to sit on one of the benches before she continues]
I know, it shouldn't be possible but it seems like it is.

I've been trying to make sense of things here, learn about how things work here but it only brings up more questions than answers. Do you remember seeing a numbered tattoo on your arm? [Because that might help clarify things with how long she's been here and how long the others have too]

[His lips purse a little, but he rolls up the sleeve on his jumpsuit. He'd discovered it in the shower shortly after the fight, immovable ink reading --- » 039 » 050 clearly across his skin.]

It's my locker number.

[He says, though there's a note of uncertainty in his voice.]

...What does it mean?
romancekiller: (pic#8605715)

[personal profile] romancekiller 2015-01-11 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's our Crew ID number. Everyone here gets tattoos like that when we arrive here— each month the ship jumps, that's when new people arrive. The first set of numbers seem to mark the month of your arrival, the second set seems to be randomly assigned probably to account for people who arrived during that time.

It's almost like the wristbands we were given except these are practically impossible to remove. [She frowns, pulling up her own sleeve to show her own numbers which read 037 » 100] Aside from the lockers, it also act like key to our rooms here too and other parts of the ship.
unguard: (talking)

[personal profile] unguard 2015-01-11 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
So it's a barcode.

[He states unhappily, glancing down at his number again. Hers reads 037, his 039, so he definitely hasn't been in storage during those two months. He's got the time stamp to prove that he's a new arrival, which means her apparent amnesia's still something to be concerned with.

There's a frown on his face as he pointedly rolls his sleeve down again, then shifts one leg over to straddle the bench and face her more directl.]

So, let me get all this straight- you got kidnapped after the drop ship battle. You've been aboard the Tranquility ever since, along with Raven and Finn- and yet I can remember everything that happened after that, and you were definitely there. So were they. If Raven remembers being on Earth and being on here, if Finn is alive, how-

[And that's where the logic runs out.]

I'm just not getting it.

[Maybe it's time to move forward from that for now. He drops his head, runs a hand over his hair in frustration, then looks up at her again.]

And now we're in space. Out of nowhere, with no explanation, no rhyme or reason. You've been here two months, you haven't figured any of this out? What have you been doing this whole time?

[It's an unfair expectation, maybe, for her to know anything about what's going on, but he's not a very fair person most of the time. Especially when he's come to depend on her so much for guidance and counsel.]

[Clarke nods at first as recounts what they've just gone over when he shifts to face her. She has to pause for a second, thinking of how to explain it. There was something in the welcome package she remembers when browsing through the network and while she was pretty skeptical of accepting most of it as actual fact now it was clear enough with her conversation with Bellamy that even something like that could be possible] Yeah, that's right. The thing is though I wasn't aware of any of that before you told me just now— we were all getting along fine, definitely nothing like what just happened earlier.

I wasn't sure whether to believe it or not but maybe there is some truth to it— that time seems to flow differently here and that when we are brought here, the ship can pick us up from any point. No one knows we're missing because when we do get sent back, which is apparently not by choice, it's right back to what we last remember.

[She stops so that he can process that information too though when he asks her those last two questions, she feels even more at loss. She knows he is expecting something from her, they all were and she feels like she is letting both him and everyone down by not having figured out something yet, it was easier said than done so what she's been doing is research] I know and I've been trying to figure it out for the most part but that's a lot easier said than done when this place has practically just over three years worth of history taking people from their homes, from different universes even. I've been looking into find out more about this ship, what we're up against here and from what I've seen so far? This place has it's moments of being just as dangerous as the ground.
