Yeah, well this is a big deal and it's personal. It's not like, 'Hey, so we're doing this and that is that cool?' She was asking him to be part of her wedding. To play the part that he would never play for his own daughter's wedding.

Whenever that would be.

"As you know," and everyone in comms knew because SOMEONE was a giddy teenager in love, "Bill and I are engaged. We're hoping to have the wedding after the next jump. I don't know what Alderaan wedding traditions are like, but.... I was hoping you would do me the honor of walking me down the aisle."

He'd known about the wedding, of course. It was difficult to miss the much needed injection of excitement into their work environment.

He hadn't expected to be asked to be involved. BUt he smiles. "Laura, I would be honoured." He can't forget, can never forget, that he won't be around to play the same role in Leia's wedding. To Han Solo, of all people, though he's certain had things happened in their natural order he would likely have felt differently about that man. "I want nothing but happiness for both of you."

Oh, he knew that 'nothing but happiness' was fairly unlikely even under ordinary circumstances (which hadn't been part of any of their lives even before Tranquility.), but he could still wish it for the happy couple.

"Oh thank gods!" Laura gasped, allowing a laugh to follow the words on her breath.

She relaxes somewhat, setting the tea down on the desk. "I already spoke with Leia about it, and she's behind it completely. So thank you."

He reaches over and squeezes a hand. "I'm glad we're all on the same page about this, then."

It was good she'd spoken with Leia. She might have had her own feelings on him never being able to do that for her.

"I am, too." Okay, it felt like she could breath again. Thaaaaank goodness. "That's one less wedding thing to worry about. Thank you."

"You're welcome." He glances over at the chaos that is her workstation. "One more out of how many?"

His wedding had involved extensive logistics. But it had also had teams of people to deal with them.

Laura sighed and gestured over to her desk.

"Luckily flowers are taken care of, venue- we need food and drink, as well as entertainment. I was planning on putting up a network post, to see if anyone wanted to take part in helping. Dress, as well, but I may very-well be borrowing a dress of Leia's." Or maybe Luthien would be able to help... But she was already doing flowers.

"And Bill is in-charge of rings. He received his dress-uniform this past jump."

Laura took a sip of her tea. "Times like this, what I wouldn't give to have Billy or Tory here."

"There's something to be said for having someone else doing the organization. It's a lot to keep track of." Even for a simple ceremony. A million details.

"I suspect people will be quite eager to help. We so seldom have cause to celebrate here." They would take anything. It would be good for people's emotional well being even when it was hard enough to look after everyone's physical well being.

"Tell me about it," she sighed, shaking her head. "Being president is a cake-walk by comparison to planning a wedding."

"So far, everyone I've spoken with is more than willing to help." And said something similar.

"I'm suddenly very glad that my wedding was largely planned by other people." Including selection of the bride, not that he was complaining. Arranged or not, his marriage has been so very happy.

Given the challenges he's heard about in Laura's universe, he's a bit disturbed that planning a wedding is somehow harder. "Most people here have wound up being fairly community minded, even if only out of sheer necessity."

"You should be. It's Hades, planning it myself. I wish I had one of my aides, Billy or even Tory, here." May Billy rest in peace. He and Dee had been far too sweet. But Dee and Lee, as well, had been quite sweet, if not sudden and strange.

Don't ask her about the sexual tension between her and Lee. She was not going to talk about it. Ever. EVER.
