( can you feeeeeel the loooove tonight )
CHARACTERS: Octavia Blake and the dating crew
LOCATION: A BAR ON A...FLOOR idk
WARNINGS: probably a hell of a lot of grumpiness lbr there's only like one volunteer
SUMMARY: Speed dating, basically, with more duplicity
NOTES: Mingle log kids, go nuts. Use the headers or create your own or do what you like
[ so octavia has totally repurposed the bar for a round of speed dating, or at least as close as she can manage given that she a) did this last minute and b) doesn't know what speed dating is. still, it's not a hard concept, and there's name badges on a table and a hell of a lot of booze already up on the bartop.
there's some music playing in the background, but given that she's hardly an expert it's just as likely to be really out of place as it is romantic. feel free to use that as a talking point. there's coffee too because she doesn't really know how to cook, and a bunch of ready to eat stuff scavenged from the kitchen nearest the bar. all in all, it's...pretty budget-- BUT SHE TRIED
People volunteering their friends will obviously be told the truth about the nature of the evening, but anyone not friends with Octavia can opt to have received an anon message stating something like " MEET + GREET ON THE xTH FLOOR BAR, PLEASE BRING YOURSELF AND ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR APPROPRIATE ATMOSPHERE. THANKS "
although if you'd prefer their volunteer tricks them into arriving, that is of course also an option. ]

hello
He gestures to who he assumes is the barkeep, and gestures.]
What do you have for wine? Wanted to start off easy.
[And then he looks around.]
A lot of people here tonight.
why hello
Well, he's not exactly the barkeep, is he. But nor is he not the barkeep. Self-appointed and now confident, Sirius shoves his own drink to the side and leans on the bar, with a knowing air. He knows this act.]
We've got a lovely space red, and an even lovelier space pink. The red tastes a bit like juice, the pink tastes of juice with extra sugar added. The white tastes of vinegar, which is why I didn't mention it, but the house special is a blend of all of 'em which is very nearly drinkable.
[So. He shrugs.]
Are you here for it?
[Dates, not drinks. But drinks as well.]
no subject
[Krem looks around, and then shakes his head a bit.]
Just came looking for a drink, to be honest.
no subject
[He takes a half step back, sizing up the bottles just under the bar, and grabs for two before he spares Krem another quick glance. And a little smirk--mostly while he's having a look around. Sirius is too quick and too good at marshaling his features to be caught at smirking.
Sympathetically, he nods.]
Mad, isn't it.
[Shot first. He pours from both bottles simultaneously. Offhandedly:]
But you can be honest, y'know.
no subject
It was odd.
He looks around again.]
Honest about what? What kind of party did I go stumbling into now?
no subject
[Because that's what that now would imply, isn't it.]
Walking into parties that you don't know the reason for? Risky, mate. This one's a date party--not mine. Not for me, either. I did some nominating.
But you knew that, didn't you.
[This is the chance (arguably) to save yourself, stranger. 'Yes I knew that of course I did', brilliant way to save face. (Arguably.) No one will turn it around, at all. Sirius shoves the shot glass across the bar, waiting, expectantly, for an answer.]
