SUMMARY: Discovery of the secondary shuttle bay and rescue
NOTES: March 30 onwards.
The doors are torn open as you arrive, metal ripped back like the skin of a fruit. Improvised barricades of tools and carts, shuttle pieces stand as obstacles to be carefully climbed through before you can stand in the shuttle bay itself. The space is vast, flashlight beams penetrating only a certain distance into the dark, but enough to sweep the floor, find the scattered, gored remains of at least three human bodies. The ship stands as the only complete vessel in sight - or, at least, it was. Windows smashed, the hull torn at, access doors ripped open. The inside empty. The shuttle bay is silent. But is that the silence of a catastrophe already passed, or of someone hiding, holding their breath? |

[Gogo had been rolling ahead of the others as the spider-thing appeared, and she barely managed to backpeddle out of the way as a burst of the bubbling fluid smacked into the deck where she had been.]
Heads up!
[She shouted as she darted back towards the group. It was strange, how calm she felt. Three days ago this would have been terrifying, but after the other things in the darkness, she was almost used to it.]

They've dealt with a lot of shit over the last 72 hours, but not a lot of it did much skittering. He raises his gun, whirls around to the hallway behind them, and is met with a great big gaping nothing. ]
What the hell--
[ Barely escapes his lips before a giant goddamn spider drops down on them from above, and he's jerking toward Gogo before he can help it. It's pointless, though, she's whirling out of the way before he can get anywhere near her. Once she's clear from the line of fire he doesn't hesitate, just raises his gun and shoots off a quick two rounds toward what looks the most like eyes that he can tell from first glance.
Shoot first ask questions later guys. ]

She's not prepared for what she sees, though, and Allison has faced down a few scary things in her life (murderous lizard monsters and feral alpha werewolves come to mind) but none of them were giant fuck off spiders. She steels her resolve though, and fires her arrow off at what she presumes to be the eyes, readying another arrow as soon as that one goes flying.
Does anyone have a giant shoe?? ]

Silence fills the hall for a beat before shouting comes from inside the shuttle bay. The words themselves are indistinguishable from out here, but the voice belongs to a woman. ]
no subject
Instead, he hears the voice of a woman shouting breaking the silence instead.]
There's someone still alive in there.
[Announcing the obvious is his job, apparently, but he takes off in the direction of the noise, assuming the others will follow him.]
no subject
His appreciation is cut short, though, because while he didn't catch the sounds of the woman himself, Sam's words sure as hell grabbed his attention. Trusting his brother's word on the matter he shoots a harried glance back at the rest of the group. ]
Kennex, Allison, stay put, keep your eyes open, if anything else shows up don't chase, just shoot and shout.
[ Someone's gotta guard the exit, after all. Blake can come or not, but since he's got eyes on Selina, Dean's not about to bark out orders there. Instead, he's just sprinting off after Sam to find the source of the voice. ]

Stay sharp in there. [ It's a late addition, which means he wants to see everyone come back in one piece, thanks. ]
no subject
Great.
[And Allison was right, someone was alive. Also great. In that lovely sarcastic way.]
no subject
Don't! We don't know what's out there! Max!
[ A stubborn and impotent huff follows, and Juri's hands find her hips. She paces away, all-weather boots thudding heavy on the metal floor of the shuttle bay. She scrubs one hand over her mouth, dragging it down. The next words she says are muttered, something more befitting the sour look she wears. ]
Fucking idiots.
[ All of them. The monsters had separated them, true enough, but it was panic that really did the job for them. She leans under a work bench, rifling absently. Clangs of metal fill the air around them. ]
no subject
With a pointed nod at Sam, he steps around the shuttle proper and into plain view. ]
Hey, lady.
[ He calls, gun hanging down at his side, in his grip but not pointed at her face. A clear enough message that he'll shoot if he has to, but he doesn't mean any harm. ]
You guys call for a rescue?
no subject
If you can call this a rescue.
[ They haven't exactly brought an army. ]
Do you know how many of those creatures are in here? [ She takes on a scolding tone—not deliberately ungrateful, but pushing the line all the same. A sigh follows, as does a roll of her eyes, and she opts to let it go in favor of updating them: ] My unit was separated. Some of them chose to act as a distraction, trying to open the way for us to the exit. We never made it.
no subject
If you want, we can just head on back without you.
[So not cool, strange woman.]
Probably just as many monsters as we had to go through to come get to you.
[Please let it not be more...]
no subject
Only now you've got a few more guns and combat-trained bodies on your side.
[ He gives a nod to the immediate area. ]
Just you left?
no subject
There's a few more of us keeping watch near the doors.
[He interjects just that bit. Their group isn't particularly small, and it's probably why they made it this far. Small enough to move quickly, large enough to watch each other's backs.]
no subject
I'm not leaving without the rest of my team. Max just left: we should still be able to catch him.
[ She tightens her grip on the tool in her hand. ]
And if you're really as good as you say, we should have no problem doing it. If you came here to help, then help me find my team.
no subject
[And no one better argue with that, though he doubts anyone would. Why would they come all this way to bring back one person and leave anyone else alive behind?]
Which way did he go?
no subject
[ She points off readily, starting in that direction now that she has the assurance that Sam, at least, will follow. ]
What's your name?
[ He's gotten her interest, at least. ]
no subject
Sam is, as always, on the same page. They're here to do some rescuing, to bring back as many of these strangers as they could, and that included stupid Max or whatever. ]
That's Sam. I'm Dean. We can play singles bingo later, okay, let's just get your idiot shipmate out of the frying pan and back in the fire, alright?
[ And with that thoroughly charming greeting, he blows past Juri in the direction she'd been heading, gun held aloft. ]
no subject
We'll do whatever we can to get you guys back safely. Just stay close to me, alright?
no subject
After walking a while, Dean (and any others out in front alongside him) would notice movement in the shadows. Not the same skittering of the earlier spider, but something equally careful and dextrous in its movements, shifting around at the corners of their vision. It looks like they might not be the only things trying to catch up with Max. ]
no subject
After three damn days of group-formation putting down every manner of creepy crawly this ship could fathom, it's getting a little rote for them. Attacks are expected, and though his heartbeat starts to pick up, there's a collected calm about him.
Dear god, just don't let it be the friggin' monkeys again. ]
no subject
the ground in front of him is moving.
A moment later, Dean may realize that it's not the ground at all. In the darkness, the blackness looked like the shadows on the metal floor, but now, it's shining just slightly, and it appears to be rippling. Muscles tightening and loosening. Worse, as he follows the path of it down the perpendicular corridor, he'll notice that it winds around, curves, and —
From behind them, a hissing sound comes as a great snake opens its maw, unhinging its jaw and lunging to strike lightning-fast with venom-coated fangs at Juri. Anyone who tries to come between it and its goal might find itself batted out of the way by the force of a several hundred pound, thick black snake tail. ]
no subject
Punching giant snakes in their venomy faces sounds like a job for the guy with the metal arm, though, so here he is, making use of those well-honed reflexes and his position in the rear of the group to lunge into this thing's path. For all that there's a pounding in his head that just wants Juri gone, gone, gone— she's not the only one who shouldn't be here, and she's not going to be much good luring the others in if she's dead. (Strategize a little here, snake bro, jesus.)
Maybe he sparks a fist off its fangs before its tail catches him across the ribs like a rubber-coated freight train, maybe he doesn't; either way, he goes tumble-skidding back across the floor with a hhhrk—
A little help, guys. ]
no subject
Stay behind me!
[He barks out the command, ready to take the hit for her if need be, knowing that his brother is nearby to back him up.]
You alright?
[It's a quick shout out to 'Davis', who hopefully wasn't hurt too badly. They were probably going to need him to take this thing down.]
