CHARACTERS: Carl Grimes + OPEN TO ALL
LOCATION: Different places around the ship.
WARNINGS: None.
SUMMARY: June catch-all where Carl adopts Lil' Gumshoe shortly after the jump and learns what it takes to be responsible for a dog all throughout the month.
[ Truth be told, Carl was still a little surprised to have found Lil' Gumshoe roaming by herself without Chuck or her fellow animal pals Digby and Pigby -- but after an honest effort to locate and contact the dog's owner came to no avail, the only conclusion he could come to was that the sweet-natured pie baker had gone home. That meant the dog was needing someone else to take her in now.
And childishly, a part of him felt attached enough to want the dog in his care... So, that's how he ended up taking on the responsibilities.
However, what he didn't expect was the trouble that came with walking a dog. Gumshoe was fairly outgoing and enthusiastic and curious all at once so more often than not she would pull him along when they were in the halls or oxygen garden and he could be caught running to keep up or letting her go and calling out to try to get her to return.
Sometimes even, almost as if it were a scene from a movie, his favorite sheriff's hat would fly off in the process and he'd have to choose which one to retrieve first.
But fortunately, not all the time.
On the occasion, the two of them can also be found in their down time. Most of the time in the kitchens where Carl would fix something simple for the both of them to eat from the available stock of human, yes, human food or in gunnery helping out as usual and being unwitting mascots.
Other times, it's possible to find him playing cards or reading in the library with the dog resting near by.
(Anyway, find him and his newly adopted dog in any above scenario you like, or create your own adventure, or ping me at
Naonith with your ideas and I'll start.) ]

Point is. He and Gumshoe still need to eat and it'd be troublesome to have to leave and walk all the way to another kitchen, so he makes a judgement call to move to the furthest available side. With caution of course and his grip still firm on the leash as he leads his dog along.
That next question gives him pause before he answers though.]
Someone else... ["Why?" is almost what comes next, but with how the cat is acting by watching Gumshoe so closely he has to ask:] You sure you got hold of your cat?
[Basically these are other words to say "Is your cat gonna be okay?"]

[So he's holding extra tight. Supper will have to wait a bit.]
She's lucky you're looking after her. Sometimes animals get forgotten about when their people disappear.
[Does he really need to say why that's a problem?]

[Just to be safe though, he has Gumshoe move to a position behind the kitchen counter, hidden from sight for the moment.]
... Well, I guess. It's not like I could leave her on own. [After all, he liked her fairly well when she wasn't tugging him along behind her leash and he'd didn't want to see her turn wild and hungry like the pack of dogs he'd once seen not long ago back home.]

You should talk to a couple people, make sure they'll look after her if you go missing during a jump. Jones almost had problems when the person who was supposed to take him went missing during the same jump Carolyn did.

A back up plan for Gumshoe if ever his dad, Daryl, and him all went home was probably a good idea. Though the list of people he trusted here was still small. So he thought hard.]
... It's not a bad idea, I guess. [What else does he say to this though? Who's Jones? Carolyn?] You have another cat?

[That happened way too much here]

But not because of all the talking per se, just he isn't one to know how to comment on matters when it starts being about things and people he's never met. To be nice though, he nods at what the other kid says even though he ultimately goes silent.
It sounds like way too much has happened with the one cat being passed around, though, definitely.]

[Food's always an important topic. He's spent a lot of time teaching people to make cat food. Somehow he became the resident expert.]
I guess she'd need more, since she's a lot bigger.
no subject
Um... I couldn't tell you. [He never had a dog before now and all that.]

[No one was meant to eat what most creatures ate in Paris]
