For the first part of the month, before the jump, Eponine can be found laid up in the med bay, a result of her being, well, herself. Later on, she'll be focusing on trying not to manifest bottles of wine at every opportunity. It takes a lot of work to not be drinking all the time. Not to mention, there's a lot of trying to sort her relationship with Combeferre out. Happy anniversary?

Laura, for her part, can be mostly found in comms working. When she's not there, she's taken to jogging again to keep her health up. Additionally, she's planning a dinner for all of her lovely Colonials. It's about time they had some sort of celebration, don't you think?

As for Selina? She's getting into trouble, figuring out all she can about the Gotham that most people here seem to be familiar with, and oh, right, at target practice. Thanks for the gun, Dean. You are extremely missed.

"Chicken. It's supposed to be good for illness." He was sure any food was, really. At least, that's why everyone got so sick on the streets, when they got sick. Why these things were so hard on both of them even after a year of proper eating.

Mostly, he just wants to see if she's okay. So he'll take any excuse to check that he can find.

Because Eponine's eating habits were still anything but healthy.

"You're a saint," she said, blowing on the soup after she noticed the steam rising from the top of it. She leans over and kisses his temple briefly.

"Glad you stopped in. I was hoping Michel would find you." Raising the spoon, she takes an experimental sip of soup. "Delicious!" Still hot, but cool enough now. "Did you make it yourself?"

"I did. I learned a lot about cooking here." And about what real food is like. He rather likes it, all things considered. "There are always people around the kitchens. Most of them don't mind questions."

He preferred to just watch people to learn, especially when he'd first arrived. But things were different on Tranquility. It wasn't as dangerous to just ask. Wasn't as dangerous to tell people there were things he didn't know.

"Good to hear it," she smiled proudly at him, wrapping an arm around him and pulling him close. Her fingers began to play with his long dirty blonde hair. "You have become so handsome, so smart." Turning towards him, she presses her lips against the top of his head.

"And quite the cook."

"You've gotten prettier here too you know. All we ever needed was to eat right." Such a little thing that most people here took for granted. But it made all the difference in the world. "Are the doctors taking good care?"

"Hush,you," she scolds lightly, though it's what she wants to hear from him. She felt prettier here, at least.

"They are," though she did not trust a single one of them. "There is a funny old woman that Michel said helped when he brought me in." Eponine hadn't met her until she'd woken up. "But I do not understand these machines." Over a year on-board the ship, and Eponine still hadn't mastered technology.

"Good." Most of the doctors from when he got sick are gone now. But at least they had doctors who would help people like them. "Are they very different from the machines in the shuttlebay?"

They'd have to be different, if they were for people. But they were still machines.

"Very. These machines help fix people, and the ones in the shuttle bay should help fix machines." People were not machines. This is basic information. Toasters were machines. Refrigerators. Shuttles.

Though Eponine hardly felt human lately.

"You helping m'sieur Wash?" She wanted to make sure Gav was being helpful. It was all it seemed that he wanted. "I am surprised you did not bring Lamarque in to say hello."

"I am. I'm pretty good at fixing the shuttles and he's even started showing me how to fly them." It was all in a simulator so far. But it was still really exciting. He did always want to help. And he liked that M'sieur Wash actually believed he could. "I didn't have enough hands free to carry Lamarque. Newt is watching him."

"Best be careful with that!" Eponine warned. "I won't have you wind up in a bed next to me, not while I'm here." For however long that was. She pulls him close in a one-armed hug, rubbing her hand over his arm affectionately.

"Oh! And how is Tritonelle? She's a beautiful girl, don't you think?" She tried to make it all casual as she tucked a lock of Gavroche's hair behind his ear, focusing more on him than on the soup. But Gavroche was older than she was, the first time she'd been with a man. He had to be thinking of such things.

She would probably have to give him The Talk.

"I'm always careful." At least ninety five percent of the time. Maybe ninety. "They have machines here for teaching. It feels like you're flying, but if anything goes wrong, it just stops." It's just stopped more than a few times. Though less and less all the time.

"Pretty and clever. Clever's important here." Especially for people as young as they were. No one really thought they belonged here, but they were here and they needed to survive.

... Eponine simply gave Gavroche a look, looking down at him pointedly, her eyebrows raised. "I don't believe that for an instant, not if you're still the Gavroche I know." She bumped her head against his shoulder affectionately. "But at least there are these machines." They sounded wonderful, truthfully.

So he thought she was pretty! Eponine beamed. "Clever's always the most important thing in a girl, Gavroche. Don't let anyone fool you." The world would tell him beauty, but she'd set him right.

"Carefulish?" It's not like he deliberately went looking for danger. It just happened that danger always fell around things that needed to be done. "M'sieur Wash insists I have to practice a lot before I can try it for real."

"Clever's important for everyone. Clever gets us through everything." He has simple priorities, really. Eat. Live. Not be ground down. THe little things.

"I would not like you to try it at all," she confided, "but there is no stopping you. This I know." When he had his mind set to something, it was impossible to change. She was the same way.

She nods. "It is. You're a good lad, knowing that. Not many others do." The Lark was a fool. "So don't forget it. Clever's the most important."

"I have to help people when I can." Which was, probably, why she was so worried. He thinks it might be, anyway. But it was who he was.

"I'll remember that, I promise." And with a smile like that, how could anyone doubt him?

"Because you're better than me, you are." She pulled him closer to her chest, content to snuggle with her little brother.

"Gavroche..." She turned to him, pushing his hair off of his face. It needed to be cut, truthfully. "You like Michel, yes? Because I spoke with him. About you." She swallows and glances down, but continues. She has to. "I told him, if the worst should happen, to care for you. In my stead." She left out the part where she'd actually asked him to basically be a father to her brother, as it only served to provide a deeper insight into her already fractured mind.
