LOCATION: The Corridors.
WARNINGS: Space crazy, violence, etc.
SUMMARY: You may have simply been taking the lift with passerbys, but now you're hopelessly lost.
NOTES: Notes on the corridors.
Those on their way to meet a friend at dinner, or heading to their department, may never reach their intended destination. Instead, characters will find themselves in an unfamiliar part of the ship, abruptly stranded. All attempts to access the elevator will prove fruitless, as the doors cannot be pried open and the lift will not respond when called. It looks like you have no where to go but forward. Hallways will connect only to other hallways, giving you the impression that you're always on your way somewhere- but can't quite manage to arrive. Time spent in the hallways will seem endless, but with luck you may find a break in the monotony. It is possible for characters to find one another, which would be preferable, as it's probably safer traveling in groups. Those that spend an excessive amount of time in their own company will find themselves feeling increasingly hostile and paranoid, until even the walls seem to be watching. That may not be such an exaggeration, with those murals that continually appear... |
Kaylee | Completely OTA
She's got her day planned - the morning in engineering, then stopping by medical around midday to grab Simon and make him eat lunch with her (otherwise he might forget, he keeps himself so busy), then the afternoon - well, she hasn't planned that far ahead.
But it all goes out the window, anyway, when the lift gives a frightening lurch and stops, the doors opening on an unfamiliar corridor - dark, ominous, not a part of the ship she's familiar with. The lift controls are unresponsive, and the minute she steps out, the doors slam shut behind her, and then she's alone.
Lost.]
What kinda fèihuà is this?
[But there's no one to answer her, at least, no one that she can see. She starts moving forward, slowly, her eyes wide. This is the last thing she wanted. There are monsters out there, she knows.]
o/ hello new friend...
Damn, this boy can run.
He falters for a moment, gripping onto one side of the walls to catch his breath. He's not in a jumpsuit; just in a plain white tee shirt and a pair of khaki shorts. It looks like he has a set of leg holsters on his thighs too.
It also sounds like he is talking to himself, but what he is saying is in coherent.
Luckily for Kaylee, he doesn't see her as his head is bowed, face meeting his palm to wipe sweat from it.
He was a jumpy fellow and loaded with ammo, so approaching him carefully might be the best option. ]
yay new frand!
Of course, that could just be because no one has yet gone space-crazy enough to turn into one. Reavers are scarier than any monster, because they're people, or were people, anyway. Used to be.
The person running towards her definitely looks a little crazy, so she's not sure if she should approach him or not - he might try to eat her face off, after all. That's kind of what reavers do.
Then again, shifting to one side to get a better look at him ends up with a bang against the metal wall, and she ducks away in fear that he'll spot her, try to attack, something.
She really, really wishes Mal, or Jayne, or Zoe were here.]

Instead, Jake's posture stiffens and he slips one of is guns from his leg holsters. It looked like it was made out of pure gold.
He spotted her duck back against the wall, and from what he could tell, she looked like a typical passenger. Jake lowers his gun halfway before beginning to approach her with caution. ]
Hey!
Are you quite alright there?
[ His accent was thick and unusual; like it wanted to waver between Chav and Australian. ]
no subject
I got sorta turned around, is all. The lift didn't take me to the right place...
no subject
[ Jake jogs over to her, putting his guns to his sides completely and peering around the corner at her. By the looks of it, he was just a kid, with dark skin and hair. Another distinguishable trait was his buck teeth and thick eye lashes. ]
Are you alright, miss? I heard a clank, and I'm more jittery than a slippery watermelon right now. I hope I didn't frighten you.
no subject
I'm just nervous, is all. I didn't know anyone else was out here, 'cept those monsters...
eeep sorry im late
[ Jake will edge a little closer to her. ]
Do you have anything to protect yourself with?
no subject
You not watchin' the network? Not payin' attention to all the folks gettin' lost, gettin' killed by those things, or losin' limbs?
And no, I can't exactly say I was headin' out this morning thinkin' I'd need a weapon. I was just goin' to Engineering.
no subject
She couldn't find a way back but she found Kaylee. That had to count for something, right?
Bennett stops when she sees the other woman and shyly smiles.]
I don't suppose that lift is working either, is it. Ah, I mean. Hello. I've been lost down here.
no subject
River? Have you been... here all this time?
no subject
Ah, I'm not River. That's not my name. I'm Bennett. Or Dr. Halverson if you, if you prefer that.
no subject
You sure look like River. But Casey looks just like Jayne, and he's not, so I guess. Just make sure you tell Simon that. Simon Tam. River's his sister. She was here, but then she disappeared. He took it pretty hard, he worries about her.
[Yep, just have a conversation with this person, nevermind that you're both lost in the dark part of the ship, no immediately discernible way out, and possibly monsters roaming around hunting people.]
You a surgeon too?
no subject
[She nods, trying to fill the silence with the gesture while she thinks of more to say. But then oh! Question. That makes it easy enough to answer.]
Not...really. I mean, I could perform surgery if I, if I needed to but it's not my preference. And even then, I'd probably be limited to doing brain surgery.
[The way she says it, she makes it sound like brain surgery is this easy sort of thing that anyone could do; like she's nothing special for having that skill.]

[She glances up and around, behind them at the corridors.] Don't suppose any of those classes taught you a good sense of direction, though?
no subject
[Then she sighs and makes a pout.] But no. I've been trying to map out the halls but I, I just keep ending up in...unexpected places. Like the, like the hallways are moving. Rearranging themselves.
no subject
But wait, was that there before?]
Uh, did you see that earlier? [Kaylee points at it.]
no subject
...No. Not that one. But I, I did see a different painting earlier.
[She digs through her bag for a moment and pulls out her notebook. She flips through the pages until she finds her rather crude sketch of a different mural. It looks like mostly scribbles but she wrote down notes to describe it more thoroughly.]
Here, this one. Have you seen it, too? [She tears the page out and hands it to Kaylee.]
no subject
But maybe if we could find it again, we could find a way back out?
no subject
But I suppose we have to try, right? Nothing else to do but keep trying to get out of this maze.
