SILENT HIL PLOT: FOG EDITION
CHARACTERS: ALL OF YOU SICK-MINDED MOTHERFUCKERS.
LOCATION: THE TRANQUILITY: FOG-WORLD EDITION.
WARNINGS: SURE IS FOGGY HERE, HUH?
(Also, you know. Horror. In space. With Silent Hill. That's always a recipe for Friendship Is Magic, right?)
SUMMARY: WELL, YOU'RE PROBABLY JUST WANDERIN' AROUND
WHEN SOMETHING DRAWS YOUR ATTENTION,
YOU CRASH INTO THE GROUND AND THEN YOU WAKE UP
IN A PARALLEL DIMENTION...
OOC: Okay! To make this easier, I am going to split this up into two catch-all logs. This event takes place within the span of September 26 through October 3rd, so maybe include the day in the subject line. If you plan on shifting between the worlds in the middle of a thread, it might be a good idea to add a link when starting a new thread in the other log (but it's not mandatory. Do whatever works for you!).
Characters who wind up in the fog world will either find themselves simply waking up to it, or walking when suddenly it becomes strangely more difficult to navigate the hallways. Hmmm... the lock is broken, you cannot open it. What more, they will find that their devices aren't working properly. The video feed is mostly snow. Audio kind of works, though! So you're free to give that a whirl.
Those who were not drawn in by the siren call of Silent Hill will not be able to physically interact with any of the characters stuck in the fog or Otherworld. To those in the real world, they simply vanished, and may find traces of them via unclear radio static on the communicators or catch ghostly glimpses of the missing people wandering the ship. But that's it. Ooh, spooky...
Monsters can appear in the fog world, but there are significantly less of them. You're probably likely to only run into a few of them. Other than that, you're almost safe here. Almost. Things are just unsettling and foggy and doesn't look quite right. But you never know when things might transition into the Otherworld, so be careful.
By the by, now might be a good time to stock up.

his expression softens just slightly when Frodo pulls out the Light of Eärendil (god, how does he still remember that?), and he nods.]
Best to save that for when we need it. [he starts moving again, because staying in one place isn't going to help them, and keeps Frodo slightly to his left and behind him.] Is it just me or are these corridors different than before?
no subject
he walks within sight of jim, hand never leaving the hilt of his sword. it's laughable in a sense, he knows he's hardly as skilled as his cousins, let alone sam. yet if ever there were a time to hold it, it would be now and to use it well.
blue eyes scan the halls around them, whatever he can see between the fog. ]
I almost feel as if shadows will appear the longer I stare at a certain point. It isn't just the halls. The entire ship feels different.
[he furrows his brows ]
It's growing darker.
no subject
[Kirk says, narrowing his gaze into the fog. it doesn't necessarily look darker, but it does seem like the fog is moving. like he can see shadows moving about in them, but he can't tell if they're human. his hand flexes on his phaser.]
Damn this ship.
no subject
[ frodo speaks of the ship, usually gentle voice a bit harder as he looks around with shrewed eyes. if ever he was to be distrustful it is now, edging closer to jim as he holds his sword, sting. ]
I don't trust any measure of fog. Good things never come out of it. Where are we to go? There must be others, surely.
no subject
[but then Jim draws up short, his left hand lowering and finding Frodo's chest. the touch is light, but it stops his movement so that Kirk doesn't break check him when he draws up short.
he squints into the fog, half certain he's seen something moving. something big.]
no subject
[ the hobbit isn't entirely sure what help he can do, but he'd rather do what he could than nothing at all. when jim reaches for him he stops suddenly, brows scrunching in slight confusion as he tries to look past him. ]
What do you see?
[ it is rather hard, to look above a big person. easier below but with fog it is better above it. ]
no subject
[his voice drops, even if maybe he doesn't need it; everything is muffled by the fog, but he wasn't about to take any chances. that thing was big, bigger than anybody he could think of off the top of his head on the Tranquility.
he backs up, stepping to the side where the wall should be. this was the opposite of how Jim had been acting before, shouting into the fog to try and find another person, but his instinct was yelling watch your back and Jim always followed his gut.]
no subject
a shriek that is too familiar to ignore. the hobbit doesn't question why his shoulder isn't throbbing in pain to the sound; doesn't question why he's hearing it at all. ]
They're here.
[ it's all he says, face ashen. he's already starting to back up, the fog settling in around his feet like smoke.]
no subject
he lifts his phaser into the darkness.]
What the hell is that?
no subject
[ frodo continues, voice strained. ]
If you know of me, then you must know what hunts me. Only one thing I know can make such a terrible sound---and there are nine of them.
[ he takes another step back. in this case, he will have no choice but to travel alone. ]
They are called the Nazgul.
no subject
but that doesn't mean he won't try]
Stay behind me, Frodo- [he says urgently, and puts himself between the hobbit and the shriek in the mist, keeping his phaser leveled.]
no subject
No, Captain. You cannot hope to win against them!
[he's taking a step back. captain kirk has been kind to him, strange but kind. he would not see someone he has come to trust on the ship coming to harm needlessly.
they shriek from the fog and frodo drops sting, hand curling into his shoulder in pain. he crouches, reaches for the hilt and keeps one hand to his shoulder. the fog is growing thicker, and even jim's form seems foggier than it was before. ]
All we can do is run!
no subject
he glances back when he hears sting hit the ground, and he jolts forward to help the hobbit back to his feet-
unfortunately this fog had better ideas, and when he feels the rush of something passing by him quickly Jim whirls and opens fire on nothing. it briefly lights up the corridor, but with the heaviness of the fog, it does little.]
Frodo! [he's lost sight of the hobbit, and he tries to look for him without lowering his weapon] Frodo!
no subject
I'll be alright, Captain!
[ and it's unfortunate that jim knows of him, knows some measure of his story for frodo has not really been alright from the beginning, and now he knows there is familiar danger following him and yet what else could he say but that? reaching for sting he turns on his heel and starts running in the opposite direction, until his ragged breathing becomes faint and then there is nothing. the shrieks begin to go in the direction his voice was last heard.]
no subject
he lowers his phaser after a moment.] Damnit. [back to square one.]
