SILENT HIL PLOT: FOG EDITION

CHARACTERS: ALL OF YOU SICK-MINDED MOTHERFUCKERS.
LOCATION: THE TRANQUILITY: FOG-WORLD EDITION.
WARNINGS: SURE IS FOGGY HERE, HUH?
(Also, you know. Horror. In space. With Silent Hill. That's always a recipe for Friendship Is Magic, right?)
SUMMARY: WELL, YOU'RE PROBABLY JUST WANDERIN' AROUND
WHEN SOMETHING DRAWS YOUR ATTENTION,
YOU CRASH INTO THE GROUND AND THEN YOU WAKE UP
IN A PARALLEL DIMENTION...

OOC: Okay! To make this easier, I am going to split this up into two catch-all logs. This event takes place within the span of September 26 through October 3rd, so maybe include the day in the subject line. If you plan on shifting between the worlds in the middle of a thread, it might be a good idea to add a link when starting a new thread in the other log (but it's not mandatory. Do whatever works for you!).

Characters who wind up in the fog world will either find themselves simply waking up to it, or walking when suddenly it becomes strangely more difficult to navigate the hallways. Hmmm... the lock is broken, you cannot open it. What more, they will find that their devices aren't working properly. The video feed is mostly snow. Audio kind of works, though! So you're free to give that a whirl.

Those who were not drawn in by the siren call of Silent Hill will not be able to physically interact with any of the characters stuck in the fog or Otherworld. To those in the real world, they simply vanished, and may find traces of them via unclear radio static on the communicators or catch ghostly glimpses of the missing people wandering the ship. But that's it. Ooh, spooky...

Monsters can appear in the fog world, but there are significantly less of them. You're probably likely to only run into a few of them. Other than that, you're almost safe here. Almost. Things are just unsettling and foggy and doesn't look quite right. But you never know when things might transition into the Otherworld, so be careful.

By the by, now might be a good time to stock up.

For information/questions, refer to this post.

Magic? [That's his first guess, anyway. Probably his only guess.]

It's like being lost in a forest. It feels huge because you're scared and you don't know where to go. [There's just no way these walls could've gone anywhere. It's got to be their minds playing tricks on them somehow.]

Who said anything about me being scared? [ Why yes, Mason is going to go ahead and play the cocky jerk right now.

His hand hits something and he freezes, eyes narrowing to try to see through the fog better. ]
I think I found something.

[Asato doesn't answer, doesn't prod at him or make a remark either way about Mason being brave or being cocky, because he just doesn't know. What he does know is that, while not outright afraid, he's nervous. And if Mason's not, then that makes him all the more reliable.]

What is it? [He comes closer and reaches out as well to try and touch whatever Mason's found, his other hand still waving in a fruitless attempt to clear the fog away.]

[ Mason's plenty nervous, actually, especially since the fog's messing with his senses so badly. He doesn't like the fact that anything could sneak up on him right now because he's not used to that sort of thing happening. He's typically so aware of his surroundings and the fog's making that impossible. ]

I think it's a door. [ His hand hits the knob (since when do doors on the ship have knobs?) and he grasps it, casting a glance back towards Asato. Even with him as close as he is, though, the fog makes it impossible to see his face. ] I'm gonna check it out. [ He turns his attention back towards the door as he opens it. ] Stay-- [ His sentence is cut off as he steps inside and suddenly finds himself in the cellar of his family's estate.

He turns back to try to find the door again, to find Asato, but there's no trace of the ship anymore; it's just a seemingly endless stretch of cellar. ]

[Asato nods obediently, staying put while Mason checks out what's behind the door. When he tries to glance in, he can't see what lies beyond, the fog far too thick to give him a view of anything more than darkness. He'll wait here for Mason to return.

But Mason doesn't return. He doesn't know just how long he's waited, but he must have come back by now, and--damn this fog, he can't get anything more than radio silence on his communicator. Only his tail reflects his building stress, twitching and lashing while he sits by the door, then stands up, paces back and forth in front of it, scratches experimentally at its surface... Where did he go? Did he find something important or stumble upon a way out, leaving Asato here to traverse the fog on his own?

He simply doesn't know, so he can't be angry that Mason has disappeared. If anything, he's worried. They were trying not to get separated, after all. So he decides the try the door himself, but it won't open for him. It's like it's not a door at all, just a doorknob attached to the wall.]

Mason!

[He tries to call once, twice. No answer. After still more tugging and twisting at the doorknob, he has to take a step back. This is a door he's not meant to open. He's not getting in. All he can do is hope--and hope he does, with all his strength--that Mason is alright on the other side, before he keeps walking along the wall, searching for an exit of his own.]
