SILENT HIL PLOT: FOG EDITION
CHARACTERS: ALL OF YOU SICK-MINDED MOTHERFUCKERS.
LOCATION: THE TRANQUILITY: FOG-WORLD EDITION.
WARNINGS: SURE IS FOGGY HERE, HUH?
(Also, you know. Horror. In space. With Silent Hill. That's always a recipe for Friendship Is Magic, right?)
SUMMARY: WELL, YOU'RE PROBABLY JUST WANDERIN' AROUND
WHEN SOMETHING DRAWS YOUR ATTENTION,
YOU CRASH INTO THE GROUND AND THEN YOU WAKE UP
IN A PARALLEL DIMENTION...
OOC: Okay! To make this easier, I am going to split this up into two catch-all logs. This event takes place within the span of September 26 through October 3rd, so maybe include the day in the subject line. If you plan on shifting between the worlds in the middle of a thread, it might be a good idea to add a link when starting a new thread in the other log (but it's not mandatory. Do whatever works for you!).
Characters who wind up in the fog world will either find themselves simply waking up to it, or walking when suddenly it becomes strangely more difficult to navigate the hallways. Hmmm... the lock is broken, you cannot open it. What more, they will find that their devices aren't working properly. The video feed is mostly snow. Audio kind of works, though! So you're free to give that a whirl.
Those who were not drawn in by the siren call of Silent Hill will not be able to physically interact with any of the characters stuck in the fog or Otherworld. To those in the real world, they simply vanished, and may find traces of them via unclear radio static on the communicators or catch ghostly glimpses of the missing people wandering the ship. But that's it. Ooh, spooky...
Monsters can appear in the fog world, but there are significantly less of them. You're probably likely to only run into a few of them. Other than that, you're almost safe here. Almost. Things are just unsettling and foggy and doesn't look quite right. But you never know when things might transition into the Otherworld, so be careful.
By the by, now might be a good time to stock up.

Seemed to be the kind of thing he got used to hearing around here. Not common enough to say it was par for the course, but...
I say Silent, you say...?
Now that he had time to remember something that Heather had said, his chest hurt. That she wasn't just saying she was from that town, she was part of it. And here this guy was saying that it may have followed him here, when Murphy was just about thinking the same, and... Shit.
Shit. "Don't suppose ghost towns and fog ring any bells for you?" He looked down the misty hallway. It seemed safe, for now. But he wasn't about to hold his breath on that. "We should keep movin', see if there's a way out."
Murphy didn't care much to stay in one place for very long. Something usually came out of the woodworks, sooner or later.

Henry's eyes went wide. Like a sudden connection between the two sparked once the phrase ghost towns and fog was brought up. "Yeah," the bells that rang were practically deafening, "If you mean Silent Hill," well what other town could it be? "I was there shortly before I woke up here."
And then a nod followed by a "yeah", though it didn't matter where they went, if something wanted the two, it would follow them until it was ready to make itself known.

He glanced over to the other guy. That look he had just then...
No, he wasn't fucking with him. "Y'know, can't say I'm surprised anymore..." Which, now that Murphy thought about it, what did that say about him? That he was somehow getting used to this place? Accepting the fact that he had a lifetime of strange and terrible shit just happening to him?
Jaw clenched, Murphy turned away and kept on walking. He didn't know where he was headed, but anywhere was better than behind them, where the sound of heavy breathing and large footfalls were nearing...
"You're not the only one."
no subject
"You too," he responds, tone less of a question, but more with a feeling of being able to relate.
He wondered if there was anyone else onboard who'd been fortunate enough to take a little trip through that hellish place.
no subject
Actually, it was in the walls. A nasty scrapping sound clawed its way across the metal, as if something on the other side was taunting him. Announcing its presence.
A presence that, as far as Murphy was concerned, was better off left to the imagination, nothing more.
"Think something's been followin' me..."
Hell, wouldn't have been the first time.

Tilting his head to the sound of the scraping on the walls, an unnerving feeling of fear overcame him. Though Henry couldn't see what was there, he could guess, and his imagination was probably far worse than the monstrosity creeping about. Then again, your imagination was your worst enemy in this situation, especially considering how it was able to create physical manifestations that later came out to get you.
Worst of it, everyone saw the monster differently. But Henry didn't know that's how it worked, he just knew he needed to get as far away as possible. Or fight it. "I heard it too," Henry exclaims and looks around for something that could work as a weapon.

He'd just have to cross that bridge once they got there. In the meantime, he wasn't entirely devoid of defense, though perhaps the makeshift knife he had in his back pocket wasn't enough. Whatever that thing that came at him from the oxygen garden was, Murphy had no desire to get anywhere near it.
"Good news is, I'm not crazy... I guess." Provided that this wasn't just the case of a shared madness or something. There was a term for that, right? Mass hysteria?
Shit, he hoped that the others were okay. Though if déjà vu was affecting this much of the ship, who knew how far out it went?
"...Shit."
The scratching on the walls was getting nearer. Whatever it was, it was catching up to them. Murphy picked up his pace, almost losing it completely and breaking into a run.
no subject
So he followed, less concerned about his mental well being and more for his life. There had to be an exit somewhere around here.

Despite this place clearly looking like the Tranquility, there was something off about it all. More and more, the deeper they went, it became apparent -- from the dripping of water leaking down the pipelines to the way the walls appeared cold and damp.
It was too close to home. Murphy half-expected to glance over his shoulder to find not Henry, but that red presence that took a liking in tearing him apart...
Except that it wasn't a bunch of red, neither was it just Henry behind them anymore.
The lights flickered. A tall and lanky shape stood halfway down the hall. It didn't move, but somehow it felt as though it could follow them at its own pace.
Fuck...
no subject
But curiosity was also getting the better of him and Henry had to turn around and see what Murphy saw. When he did, it didn't make things better, but at least he now knew there was something giving chase after all, despite that it wasn't moving at all. He couldn't see what it was exactly, but the way it's figure was silhouetted against the dark told Henry otherwise.
He turned to face ahead, still running and knowing they couldn't outrun it for forever and spoke above his heavy breathing with "What is it?"
no subject
He did, however, see that thing following him before, just before things so quickly turned to shit.
Hell if he knew what it is, though. "Just run!"
It didn't seem to move with the same laws of logic as Murphy or Henry did. Or any logic at all. For as slow-moving as it was, the lights flickered. Then, in and out of their field of view, it appeared somehow closer to them than it was before. With a black hood over its head bearing some kind of strange symbol on it.
no subject
And that fear. It was unlike anything he'd felt prior. There were the ghosts and there was Walter. Whatever was behind them now felt nothing like he'd experienced before.
latest tag, aahg
Sure as hell looked that way, anyway. But how could he know with how dark it was?
The lights in the hallways continued to flicker. That was when things began to change.
The walls growled and peeled away. Steam poured from the pipes in the ceiling, as metal churned and snapped, tearing and corroding away...
Oh no. Murphy had seen this happen before, even though he thought he'd gotten away from it, had put it all behind him. As the hallway began to change and the sounds of something inside of them coming closer, it was a wonder if he'd ever escaped at all -- or maybe it'd been here the entire time, waiting...
"Don't... think running's gonna do much good now."
You can't outrun yourself, after all.
no subject
Welcome back to Silent Hill Henry.
A nod of realization and a lump of fear down his throat as he swallowed. Sooner or later the thing would've caught up. Even if they'd gotten away this time, eventually it would come back for them. The victims of Walter's were enough proof for Henry that these things were constantly on your trail. There was no escape and now that flight had been prevented, the only thing left to do was fight.
no subject
Was this always going to happen to him, no matter where he went? Was it coming for him again? There was nowhere to hide, and somehow he got the feeling that it might not go away this time.
Henry didn't seem to be processing this like a first timer, either. He wasn't lying.
"You wouldn't happen to have a weapon on you...?" Murphy asked him. He had a shiv, but he doubt that would be enough for what was to come.
no subject
"No," the unfortunate answer with a shake of his head as the adrenaline continues to rise.
But he's searching hard now, looking for anything to use as a weapon. Anything. And he'd learned that you can use a lot to protect yourself. While he'd looked for something while running, his search hadn't been all too pivotal until Murphy just established the fact that they were going to be defending themselves.
