( OPEN ) call it what you want
CHARACTERS: Peter Parker (
parkours) & you!
LOCATION: 005 | Common room
WARNINGS: None.
SUMMARY: Peter's attempting to rig the holographic screens in favor of actually displaying movies, which needless to say, doesn't go all that well for now. He just wants to watch video footage of things man )8
NOTES: None.
There's a sign when you first enter the common room, one that Peter deliberately put there as a means of offering up his services to the ship, an offer of willingly taking pictures for a small fee. He hasn't quite figured out what the fee is just yet, but Peter has every intention of working that out on a later basis. Maybe information, maybe nothing, but that's it for now.
What he really wants though, is a place to tinker, the electronics earning his complete attention, because being the geek he is, they're something worth looking into, improving on. It seems like he has competition across the ship, with men like Tony Stark already offering their services (in both forms), and Peter will never come close to their level. Try as he will, because he's always been a self sufficient kid even with Uncle Ben and Aunt May around, Peter is still a teenager.
It's why he's here in the common room, physics textbook at his side (not that it'll help), examining the console to the holographic screen. Every once in a while he gets a near jolt as Peter prods the wrong thing, a perpetual frown on his face because nothing seems to be going in his favor, a reminder that this is out of his league, and despite how smart he can be on the surface, a brand new situation means he's just your average joe.
( ooc | brackets or prose are completely fine with me! pre-emptive yes to anyone who wants to fourth-wall peter as well! )

what he notes when he enters this time is a strange sort of light coming from a screen, such likes he's never really understood, so he's a bit wary as he enters, watching curiously and carefully.
the lad in question seems to be having a rought time of..whatever that is, so it's said rather politely, ]
Are you having some trouble?
[ he doesn't seem dangerous. ]

He wants to put the suit on at some point in his time here, but he's never really gotten the chance when the technology here has Peter's one track mind and he's capable of forgetting just about everything else. It's that one track mind that's gotten him in trouble before, with forgetting Aunt May, and while he learned his lesson then, it doesn't mean Peter's remembered it now, when several moments pass by before Peter realizes someone actually spoke. ]
Oh -- [ His attention is still on the panel, biting his lower lip and he doesn't see Frodo until a while later later. ] No, I think I got this -- [ Pausing so he can actually connect two wires, it ends terribly and Peter's left with a sharp shock as he lets go, retreating slightly.
That went well. Smiling softly, he glances up, catching sight of Frodo, the camera around his neck and his all too familiar looking face. ]
Could've gone better, don't you think?
i am so late screams. i'm so sorry!!!
If I'm correct, that is a camera, isn't it?
[ he pulls up his cloak, showing the one that ms. betty ross had given to him ]
If so, I'll have to tell you I'm no such expert on them. Tinkering and all that, well, sounds more like something a friend would do better at.
NO ITS OKAY <33
( Because Peter doesn't really have friends all that much besides Gwen, though it doesn't deter him from actually trying to make more of them around. He relaxes his hands around the panel, flexing his fingers in spite of the shock and takes a deep breath. Right. He's got this whole thing going on. ]
I mean, yeah, uh, [ Peter glances towards the one Frodo has, eyes wide with recognition. ] That's a camera. Real nice one too.
[ But it's one of those things he kinda figures is the norm around there. ]
Guess you've never seen one around?

Prim is intrigued by the idea, but moreso by the fact that someone is offering a service, complete with a little sign and everything. It's a very smart idea, she thinks, and a wonderful way to pass the time. She's finding that too much exploring is like eating entirely too much food after not being able to eat decently for a few months. You get too much in because of your excitement, and then end up feeling sick and overwhelmed for days after.
So now she's taking things slow, and just sticking around the common areas where she might meet more people and not necessarily see new things. Buttercup the cat trails along at her heels most all of the time, glaring at everyone they pass and on special occasions he even offers a parting hiss as he spies someone he really doesn't like.
Today's lucky recipient of said hiss is one Peter Parker. After having been separated from Primrose when a large pair of feet almost trampled him, the grumpy cat ran off and left his owner frantically searching for him. Fearing being stepped on anymore, Buttercup retreated to a corner of the common room that seems safe. The corner that happens to be inhabited by some boy and a project. And Buttercup, being the cat that he is, doesn't approve of this or him at all. So he's very content to stand there hissing dangerously, the fur on his back rising as if he's close to attacking.
But before anything has a chance to really escalate, Primrose runs into the room and instantly spots her beloved pet.
"Buttercup!" She cries out, jogging over to scoop up the cat into her arms. Within seconds, the cat is docile and curled up like a sweet little kitten, purring affectionately as Prim nuzzles him with the side of her cheek.
"He's so much faster than I am. I'm sorry if he bothered your work." She apologizes with a smile, and looks up over her cat to try and figure out what the boy is doing. It looks very complicated to her, like something she'll never be able to figure out, even if her life depends on it.
"What are you doing, though? Are you even supposed to be doing that?"

He knows enough to keep his eyes and ears or anything that may interest him, but beyond that, every once in a while Peter's still a teenage boy who wants nothing more than to do this own thing, until Buttercup invades. Absorbed as Peter is that instant, he nearly misses the constant hissing until Prim speaks nonstop, jerking Peter out of his focus and he turns around to see a face full of cat.
"It's... okay," he answers, hesitating slightly. Should have noticed the cat earlier, but now that there's a girl attached to her, seemingly harmless, Peter can't really help but smile regardless. "No, I was just trying to watch a movie, I guess."
"Buttercup is it?" He continues, reaching out to pet the feline, or at least attempt to as well as he can.

She's not one to go out of her way to meet everyone, but when she happens upon another person, well, there's no reason to shy away from making acquaintances. Having made some noise as she entered the room, meaning it was unlikely her presence would go unnoticed, Wanda instead just steps in. Her eyes drift to the screen to see if she can tell what it is he's trying to do.]
Experimenting?

Pausing in his actions, Peter glances up, around, before catching sight of Wanda. He raises a hand in a slight wave before shrugging his shoulders. ] Kinda?
TV looks broken to me. [ Which it isn't really, but hey, Peter can assume. ]
I just wanted to see if I could rig 'em to watch a movie or two.
no subject
Do they have a decent selection of movies available?

[ His frustration is evident in the way he speaks, exasperation lined across his face. Pausing for a moment, he leans against the console, running a hand through his hair. ] You'd think the whole idea of living on a ship would be fun, but so far it hasn't.
[ It's the first time he's really spoken much at all to anyone but Gwen, but moments like these when his work isn't going all that well and Peter's trying for something unique, his talent for being awkward tends to give way to his more casual self. ]

[She takes a seat a bit away, just outside of the space where he's working so he can move freely to and from as she anticipates he might. Considering how frustrated he already is, she's not about to make herself a further hindrance.]
Did something happen? Besides [She waves a hand, gesturing to his project.] all of this?

[ Peter's line of reasoning was that most people went exploring in a ship they weren't familiar with, but what had caught his attention since he first arrived was the influx of technology, the pods themselves and the basics of the ship. He would want to eventually move onto the more advanced stuff around, his own interest taking precedence and Peter's natural curiosity for learning. ]
A friend, [ He stumbles over that, because Gwen isn't a friend by any means but a lot more than that. ] kinda mentioned stuff happens on board, but I haven't seen anything, so I just... it's all new to me here.
[ Totally aware things are mundane in conversation, but Peter was never the greatest conversationalist to begin with. ]
What about you? I mean, coming over to this corner.

[At least, about the strangeness. Things happening that weren't normal. It's sort of par for the course with Wanda and her world. Things are decidedly Not Normal there. Then again, as a mutant she's not normal too, by the standards of "society," for whatever that's worth.
Wanda shrugs gently.]
I'm just exploring the ship. I arrived with the last jump, thought I would get a sense of what is where and well, happened upon you. Should I leave you to your work?
no subject
Maybe it's just nothing.
[ A slight shrug, but who's he really fooling; they're not in their own home, somewhere familiar, and everything here isn't the same as what he knows at all. Peter's silent for a while longer, musing over what he's seen to the point where his tools lay on the side and he's forgotten them in the long run. It's not until the lockpick (Peter's logic was awkward, breaking into the panels and then working from there) clatters to the ground. ]
You can stay, [ He says, jerking up to catch her eyes. ] really. I uh, wasn't managing anything anyway. [ Peter adds before shrugging. ]

After spending the first jump or so being immensely confused, he just sort of learned to accept things as they were. Besides, it wasn't like he had any other options.
So when there's nothing to be done, and he's tired of trying to figure out what, exactly, technology is, he wanders. And that's how he ends up in the 005 common area. He watches the man fiddling with wires and raises an eyebrow. "So, you be one of those." He gestures a hand at Peter and then at the television. "Technology people, eh?"

He looks up from his tinkering, at Jack's face, raises an eyebrow, because really, Peter kinda expected everyone to be familiar with some of the stuff on board. "Yeah? I guess?" Peter wrenches out a wire by accident as he mimics the gesture in return, completely caught off guard by Jack's presence.
"Not entirely sure what you mean, but yeah I kinda like fixing stuff, I mean, if it needs fixing." He rambles off more than he should, the screen going black and Peter's well laid plans completely falling apart in Jack's presence.
"Or. Well, I guess that needs to be fixed now."
