SUMMARY: Open log for SEC for the month of December.

I ate earlier. [Look, it's not a lie. He did eat earlier. At lunch.] And there's absolutely no sense in you being down here by yourself while everyone else is enjoying themselves.

[This is him putting his foot down. CAN'T OUTSTUBBORN A SCOTSMAN.]

[And for maybe the, well, fifth or sixth time in Edgeworth's life, he...actually...has been outstubborned. Which might not sound impressive until you realize about three of those times came from Jenna.]

All right. Then I'll accept the company.

[Though he does rally, sternly:]

Though the moment you begin feeling hungry, I'll eject you from this place at once. I can do that.

[He can't.]

[Desmond is Male Jenna, Edgeworth. Surprise.]

Oh, aye. And I wouldn't want that. [Yeah, Edgeworth. He is just so UTTERLY IMPRESSED BY YOU.]

Indeed, no. I'll have no concern whatsoever for your dignity.

[And he draws himself up, intent on his own dignity...but after a moment, he deflates somewhat, harumphing self-consciously - ]

I...should ask, incidentally - You are satisfied with how things are being handled in the department?

[Desmond crosses his legs and gets comfortable in his chair.] Well, I've only just gotten involved with it, but compared to what I'm used to, I can't fault it for much of anything.

[A slight hesitation - ]

What is it that you're used to?

Usually, a bunch of people running off into the jungle with guns because they heard someone screaming.

[That was three years ago, of course, but being here makes his idyllic little life seem farther away and the island's worst closer.]

Of course, that was mostly on a good day.

...And on a bad day?

Hostiles attacking and everyone throwing together to put a stop to it, usually. It wasn't the best of locations, that island.

Evidently...not. Hostiles of what ilk?

People who had been their longer was my understanding. [Which to hear Kelvin tell it, he was expecting natives in tribal masks. That was not the case.]

As in - the indigenous peoples?

Not quite. I suppose they were researchers who got stranded. My experiences with them were less than pleasant, to say the least, so I didn't have the opportunity to ask.

[Edgeworth narrows his eyes slightly.]

Perhaps I do not fully understand where it was you were before this.

[thatsaflaregun]

I was stranded on an island, for the most part. [And likes screwing with people about it. HE HAS SO LITTLE JOY IN HIS LIFE.]

An island with...hostile scientists.

Like I said, I didn't ask. [SHRUG.]

Were they...protective of their research?

[thatsaflaregun]

Protective of the island, from what I gathered. It had special properties. [Said in a mildly conspiratorial tone. There's a point where he can't talk about the island without being self-deprecating enough to acknowledge that yes, it all sounds insane and he's aware.]

[That slightly insane-sounding tone is certainly eliciting a healthy dose of skepticism from Edgeworth.]

Don't ask me to explain them, brotha. Still wondering about a lot of it, myself, and I was actually there.

Have you spoken with any of the other people who were removed from their homes and brought somewhere else before coming here?

[thatsaflaregun]

Not yet. I've spoken to one girl about them, though. Informative, but not entirely helpful.

As far as I know, I'm the only one from that particular island.
