team badass brig party

CHARACTERS: Jack ([personal profile] fuckcerberus), James Vega ([personal profile] armsmaster), Zaeed Massani ([personal profile] idkmybffjessie)
LOCATION: The brig.
WARNINGS: General foulmouthedness, unsportsmanlike conduct, and threats of violence. You know, the usual.
SUMMARY: Post-shuttle-hijack thread for anyone who wants to yell at our unrepentant criminals and/or discover they're actually on board (h-hi Tali and Thane, how you doin')!
NOTES: A summary of what actually went down can be found here.

[So. Uh. There's actually a brig on board. Which seems to be immune to the effects of ragey biotics. Who'd have thought it? Not these three.

Granted, they were kind of more concerned with the impending destruction of their own universe, so let's cut them some slack. In any case, they're here, not exactly contemplating their sins, and open to chatting.

For, uh. A given definition of "chatting."]

[ To say that Carolyn was pissed off would be an understatement. Fry can't actually remember ever having been this angry, not even when arguing with Johns back on that hellhole of a planet. It's only common sense that makes her leave her belt with her knife and her tools behind; not only is she really not up to actually hurting anyone through the brig bars, especially with still-healing bruises from the confrontation still running up and down her side, but it would also be stupid to bring something like that in where they might be able to grab it.

It's probably stupid to go in general, but she goes down halfway through one of her shifts in the shuttle bay instead of taking a break. There's engine grease still partially smeared on the side of her face and under her nails, but Fry doesn't bother trying to clean up. Instead she heads into the brig and stands there for a moment, taking a deep breath to try and calm herself down before talking to anyone. ]

[ They'd spoken before -- unlike the other two, complete strangers until they burst into her shuttle bay. That makes her rage a little deeper, a little darker. Fry had been trying to help the people on the ship understand their situation and of course it had been used against her. That was how things worked, back in her universe and everywhere else. The people on this ship were getting to her, their softer universes rubbing off. Riddick was right again, and that just fuels her anger, makes her fists clench as she crosses her arms across her chest. ]

Shepard's not here to do it, though I guarantee that if she comes back, she'll find out. [ Or he, not that Carolyn knows that's a possibility. Either way, she takes a few steps closer, eyes hard. ] The next time you want to run off to space to die, just take the airlock instead of fucking up my shuttle bay. It'll be faster and a lot more convenient.

[ Because they would have died, wouldn't have made it home -- anyone who's been around the shuttles enough knows that. Not enough fuel to get to another planet or a station, much less Earth (especially in this universe, where time is counted as "After Earth" and everything nearby could be deadly, if it even exists anymore). Anyone who's been on the ship long enough could have told them that when people go back, it's like they were never away from home. Maybe they did -- Carolyn can't remember mentioning it herself, but she's too heated at the moment. Maybe he just didn't believe her.

Fucking idiot. ]

And I figure I wouldn't want to be the one to piss Shepard off.

[ But it doesn't matter, because Shepard isn't here, and Carolyn's the one who's pissed off. She's better than she once was in a fight, more physically able, but the fact is that Zaeed would still probably win if it was just the two of her and she knows it. Still, she's angry enough right now that she doesn't care -- besides, there are bars in the way. ]

Now what the hell were you thinking?

[ Fry doesn't know much at all about what's going on back where he's from. But she knew Shepard, knew bits and pieces about the technology from their world, and knew that Shepard was still close enough to Earth to travel their comfortably.

It's different where she's from, even if large starships like that sound vaguely familiar -- something whispered about, towering monuments on worlds that hadn't been dead the last time anyone had looked. (Necromongers, though she doesn't know the word or Riddick's connection to them. She had died before that.) ]

In case you hadn't noticed, none of the stars around here are familiar. Not to me, not to anyone else from space on board this ship, and that included Shepard. Navigation is fucked, we have no idea how much time each jump takes or where we'll be the next time each happens, and we sure as hell don't have enough fuel to get in the shuttles and leave or else we'd have done that already. You might not believe any of the people on here about how time works, but I'm going to assume you know how to read fuel levels. What were you going to run it on, sheer stubbornness? Because that doesn't actually work.

[ Zaeed doesn't need to admit to Carolyn that she's right -- she already knows it. She has no problem with admitting when she's been wrong, or hasn't yet, but this time? This time she knows she isn't, knows that on this ship, in this unfamiliar part of space, you need to think in order to survive. You need to make calls that maybe you don't want to make. (She's waiting to have to make another one. She isn't sure which route she'll take.) ]

Like I said. If you want to run off to space, take the airlock next time. You can try your luck with being stubborn then.
