CHARACTERS: Mordecai and Lilith

SUMMARY: Lilith got a sad photo in her locker, so she and Mordecai meet up to talk about the good old times, the bad old times, and everything else.

It took Mordecai a while to get himself and all his animals cleaned and sorted after the jump, but finally the chickens were in the oxygen gardens, and he was dressed and armed to the teeth just in case he spotted Jack. Mijo was following, this time - every time he landed on Mordecai's shoulder, a hand would come up to sweep him off and force him to perch elsewhere, in an attempt to get the little bird to exercise his flight muscles. Not that it would do much good here, but Mordecai had to do something so the little guy didn't turn into the bloodwing version of a couch potato.

He took a longer walk than needed to get to Lilith's place from the lockers, giving him time to clear his mind from the effects of the jump, but eventually he arrived and knocked at her door.

She eyed the glass and loosely grasped it in her hand. "You won't miss it?"

"I got more in my room." Okay, so he hadn't been intending to actually give it to her, because he hadn't thought she'd take it, but now he just wanted to see how much he could get her to drink.

"Then I'll drink it," she stated matter-of-factly, as if she could make it happen just by uttering the words. She hand was wobbly as she brought the glass to her face and she sipped at what remained of the drink.

"You're a crazy, crazy woman." He let her drink, though he was starting to worry a little about the aftermath of this. He could handle himself, but she was going to have a rough wake-up. "You finish that off, an' I'll walk you back to your room, okay? I'm cuttin' you off," he teased.

"Who do you think you are, Moxxi?" she asked and immediately laughed at her own joke. She set the glass down, still some alcohol left at the bottom, and wasn't quite ready to leave the bar just yet.

"Hell no. For one, I got way better taste in girls than she does." A moment of confusion passed over his face as he tried to decide if that had actually been what he'd meant to say, before he shrugged it off. It was probably true, anyway. "C'mon, Lil, let's get outta here before you start dancin' on tables or somethin'," he insisted, and used the table to help keep himself upright as he staggered to his feet.

"You don't want to see me shake my hips? Roland sure seemed to enjoy it." Had she been sober, that might have made herself sad at the memory. Instead she was giggling at the memory as she tried to stand up.

That just came across as super awkward to him. "Didn't say I didn't, chica, but this isn't exactly the time or place," he replied, amused, as he held a hand out to her to help her up.

"What, you think about that?" She had to study his hand for a moment before she was able to successfully grasp his hand and pull herself the rest of the way up.

He laughed. "Not normally, no, but you said it." He still thought of her as Roland's girl, after all this time, and today hadn't exactly done much to change that. But denying that she was attractive would be pointless. Right now, though, none of that was really even on his mind - he wanted to get them both somewhere they could collapse in relative safety, so he slung an arm around her shoulders and tried his best to tow her alongside him as he headed for the halls.

She was leaning heavily against him and would be taking it slow, mostly because she was starting to get introspective. "I never got a chance to really be with him before the end. He was too focused, he kept telling he wasn't interested."

"Uh huh." He kept a hand on the wall to guide them as he carefully placed one foot in front of the other. The alcohol had gotten to him enough to make it hard to tell what exactly Lilith was not-so-subtly suggesting - because of course Roland hadn't been with her, they'd had to keep her hidden, and then after that they'd all been sharing the headquarters and private time wasn't- oh. Suddenly it clicked, and he rolled his eyes, though that caused him a moment of instability and he had to stop walking and regain his balance. "Uh, you don't have to tell me 'bout that, you know."

"You act like a forty-something virgin." Never mind that Roland had been her first and only boyfriend. Still, it was funny how every time she mentioned anything about wanting to have sex with Roland, he wanted her to stop. "How red is your face?" she teased and awkwardly tried to peer closer at his face.

"If it's red, it's from the alcohol, Lil," he says, laughing awkwardly. "I can guarantee you I'm not forty an' I'm not a virgin, either. Doesn't mean I wanna hear about... that."

She laughed and elbowed his side. "I'd be surprised if Moxxi left that intact for long. Why don't you like talking about it, huh?"

"Fuck off, Lil, you really think I couldn't get laid before Moxxi? Really?" Not that he's taking her comments entirely seriously, but sometimes things are funnier when drunk, and sometimes things are less funny. This is one of the latter, especially considering he's pretty sure he's had more action than she has since arriving.

"I didn't see you showing interest in anyone else on Pandora." Not her, not Tannis... just Moxxi.

"So? I had a life before goin' to that hellhole of a planet, you know. Besides, with you makin' googly eyes at Roland all the time, I'm not surprised you didn't feel like speculating about who I was interested in." And he wouldn't have expected her to. His business was his alone, really.

"You make me sound like a little kid with a crush." And a little kid she wasn't.

"Didn't say anything like that." Even if sometimes she definitely had acted that way.

"At least I don't get embarrassed when someone says sex."

"I don't. Just not a big fan of hearin' about my two good friends goin' at it." Especially with how Lilith either ignored everyone else in the room but her and Roland, or possibly used their presence to make Roland feel even more awkward, depending on what she was trying to get out of him.

"Or how we didn't. I can't remember the last time I got any." Well, she could, but it was too damn long ago and that was what mattered.

"Betcha there's plenty of willing guys here if you ask nicely." If she wasn't looking for a real relationship, anyway, but with how she was still stuck on Roland, maybe that was hard for her. "Jus' don't go settin' them on fire. Wrong kinda hot."

"I can't just go up to a random guy and say, 'hey, take your pants off.'" She could, but even she had her limits.
