The ship has been invaded by pirates. They're noisy on the network, but you haven't seen any, not in person. Though if you go far enough things start to make themselves apparent. Kitchens have been ransacked. Pieces of the walls are torn out, media libraries overturned. Maybe you should get your valuables together and find somewhere safe to hole up... |

Barricaded, probably. If there's someone smart, they're inside. Not pirates -- they'd probably leave the thing open to take loot out. Hrm. ]
If'n there's any pirates right in there, y'all should probably be gettin' a move on now. If not, don't mind me none.
[ He really hopes he's not talking to himself. ]
no subject
No pirates. No customers, either.
[ She'll probably still shoot if you try and walk in, though. Just a fair warning that she doesn't actually voice. ]
no subject
What, you ain't got your gun loaded already, girl?
[ Just gonna lean up against the wall here, a bit away from immediate shooting range. ]
Not everyone's as cuddly as I am, y'know.

[ since she can't just shove the barrel up against his back like she normally does to men who walk into her bars unannounced. But she's already relaxing a little because she doesn't recognize him, now. Granted he's a little more sober and not slurring his words, but still. ]
Cuddly? With that? [ she's referring to Vera, there. ] Hate to see what you consider aggressive.
no subject
[ See Jo, this is why he likes you. Smart girl, good at bein' intimidating for her size. ]
Vera here is a lady, [ Jayne counters, chuckling. ] But I ain't pokin' around here lookin' to loot the whole ruttin' ship, now am I? An' I ain't no supernatural critter, neither. [ Since, well, he's heard those are... around. ] An' I definitely ain't no Reaver, so yeah, I'd say cuddly.
no subject
[ Jo just kind of eyes him, waiting to see if he'd give her a reason to shoot or not. She's already scared off enough people - pirates or no - who thought they could get their hands on a bottle or two during the chaos.
After a moment, though, she'll lower her gun. Just a fraction, but enough that he shouldn't feel in constant immediate danger of being shot. ]
Begs the question of what you are doing here, though.
no subject
They ain't men, that's what. They get all wrong, cuttin' on 'emselves, rapin' and murderin' and eatin' people alive.
[ If he could not talk about it anymore, that would be great. ]
Just lookin' around, seein' what they're all takin'.
no subject
[ Except so much worse. Oh god. ]
Yeah? What're they taking? [ Because aside from a supplies run or two, Jo's been holed up in this one room. She's not curious enough to go out and see what's going on, but curious enough to ask. ]
no subject
[ Reavers fucking terrify him, and he prays that there's no such thing in this universe. ]
Food. Rippin' shit outta the walls an' stuff, too, so ship parts. I ain't no mechanic though, like I told ya.
no subject
[ probably seventy five percent of what Jayne says goes right over her head, so Jo just kind of shakes her head. ]
Either you're coming in or going back out, because I don't want the door open.
no subject
[ That's kind of why he hasn't yet, Jo. He doesn't particularly like being shot. ]
no subject
[ Which means no, really. Unless you try and jack something and even then she's always got her knives. ]
And close the door behind you.
no subject
[ Jayne adjusts Vera, takes another look around the hall -- wouldn't do to have someone shooting him in the ass -- and then slips on into the bar, shutting the door behind him as asked. Then he takes a good look around, trying to see just what the hell has gone on in the room. ]
no subject
You just going and checking on all the rooms, or am I just special?
no subject
[ Though the bar itself is special. He hadn't known Jo would be there, and really, it's probably a good thing it's her and not someone else. Jayne's got no problems with stealing things for himself, after all. ]
You're the first one I've stopped with, though. Guess that makes you a little special after all.
[ She's hot, sue him. ]
no subject
[ The sarcasm there is fairly obvious, mostly because she's not the one to enjoy being checked up on. Especially not when the person doing the checking is carrying a bigger gun than her. ]
I'd offer you a drink, but I packed up all the alcohol.
[ Which is the first and main reason Jo can think up as to why he'd be here. ]
no subject
The news about the alcohol does make him frown slightly, but he shrugs and settles into a chair with a good view of the door. ]
Packed up how?
no subject
[ she settles in back behind the bar, where's she's got most of her things set up. ]
Figured if the pirates did manage to get in here, I could at least make it difficult for them.
no subject
[ He is fairly certain that having to gather the supplies takes less time than picking up boxes, even if those boxes are put away. ]
no subject
[ like she'd just keep them sitting around. ]
no subject
[ He shifts in his seat, leaning forward to look at her. ]
Or threaten ya, if they want it that bad.
no subject
[ she leans on her elbows on the counter, shrugging a little. ]
Plus, they have to get through the door.
no subject
Yeah, you'll be just fine, won't ya?
no subject
[ and there's a hint of a smile there with those words. maybe a little over-confidence. ]
no subject
Smart girl.
