Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in...

Delta would probably argue that the high oxygen content did more than the sight of green, but as he had always been fond of green it wouldn't strictly be true.

"Are there truly greater security measures in place here, or was the location chosen for its abundance of resources?"

"They're setting up a perimeter, so I would imagine both. We can ask Tex about it if you want, she's on security."

He nodded. It was a bit of a relief to have one of the very few people he knew working on security, he had to admit.

"That is an excellent idea."

Delta didn't seem to be in any rush to put this to action, though. He'd been very thoughtfully pondering everything they knew about these 'space pirates'. A lot of what he'd been able to find didn't make perfect sense, even considering that this ship didn't have Slipspace technology. Not that that was anything new to him after waking up in a human body in the first place, though. Everything had been confusing after that.

"We'll do that on the way out, then." She'd been there on the outside when they'd entered, but she'd appeared to be busy and so he hadn't gone over to talk to her.

As for now, York didn't appear to be in much of a hurry. They'd had a full day working in the shooting range and in the shuttle bay, and York wanted to relax for a little while before they helped out with distributing supplies or whatever else they would find to do here in the gardens. He put his hands behind his head and leaned back, lounging.

"Agreed."

Taking his cue from York, Delta grabbed a foldable camp chair and sits down so he could observe the surroundings as well as anyone else who had set up their tent nearby. And he had to admit--

"This is pleasant."

"Mhm. I'll want to get some sleep soon, though." That was the point of their being here, after all.

"Of course. I have tested the tent for stability and it has passed the test. I will join you shortly."

But first he had to see if he could notice anyone nearby roasting hot dogs or marshmallows.

He watched Delta for a few moments before stretching and heading inside. There were a couple of camp pads on the ground inside and he sprawled on his stomach on one of them.

Delta continued poking around a little bit, but after about half an hour he joined York in the test. It wouldn't surprise him if York was asleep, but the ability to immediately fall asleep in any situation was one Delta didn't quite possess yet.

He was lightly dozing when Delta entered the tent and he cracked an eye open at the slight rustling of the tent wall moving. "Hey."

"Hello."

Oh, he hadn't meant to wake York up. Delta took his shoes off in what he hoped was a quiet manner and followed York's example to lay down on one of the pads.

"I apologize if I awakened you."

"Nah, I wasn't really asleep." He rolled over onto his side. "This is your first time going to sleep, isn't it?"

"I believe I passed out during my initial 36 hours before I had stabilized."

Which was a yes, if one counts only voluntary sleep.

"Hey, well, that's how it works sometimes. Sleep isn't something you can do on purpose. It just kind of happens." Not that Delta would be entirely unfamiliar with that concept. There had been plenty of times he'd been talking to Delta into the night and fallen asleep in the middle of a sentence.

He nodded. Yes, Delta remembered those times well enough.

"Understood. I do not think it will be difficult today, however."

He had been going for quite some time without rest by now, after all.

"Pretty sleepy, huh?" York was as well, and he yawned.

He nodded. "I suppose I am."

Delta bit his lip at the prospect of unconsciousness, as no AI was ever really used to that, but--York would be right here in case he needed anything.

It was kind of funny the way Delta wore his emotions so readily on his face. York would have thought that would have been something he would have found difficult, but instead it seemed covering it up was the hard part.

"Hey, you okay?" he asked at Delta's apparent distress.

Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to hear it directly from York.

"You will be here if I cannot sleep?"

Or if he can, but has difficulty, or if he has a nightmare, or if...if...anything, really.

"Yeah, D, of course," he said, reaching over to rub Delta's shoulder briefly in a reassuring gesture. "'M not going anywhere."

"Thank you, York."

The verbal reassurance did help, he found. Delta gave York one more quick smile and closed his eyes.

He thought to himself with some irony that at one point he would have had Delta set an alarm for him to wake up in six hours or so. Delta didn't have those abilities anymore, and of course it's something he'd been going without for several months now anyway, with the absence of his AI since his arrival here. Instead he contents himself with awakening whenever his body decides he's done resting, and in the meantime he'll try not to sleep too heavily, in case Delta does need him for something.
