EVENT: SPACE PIRATES ▒ OXYGEN GARDENS

CHARACTERS: Ensemble production!
LOCATION: Oxygen Gardens
WARNINGS: Camping.
SUMMARY: Hanging out in camp, discussing pirates, etc.
NOTES: Open to all!

Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in...

He chuckled and bumped Delta's shoulder. "Yeah, that's him. You remember how I was looking for his chip? I made that post announcing I hadn't found it and he comes back anonymous to say he has it."
alaspooryork: (unarmored: of course)

Delta found himself smiling at Church's reaction. He was finding it much harder to control his facial expressions now, being almost entirely unconscious, than he had when he was able to completely control the appearance of his hologram at all times. Then he had rarely expended the effort to do more than the occasional nod.

"It is a pleasure to see you as well, Church. Regarding my appearance, I am uncertain as to why this particular form was chosen for me." Yes, he knew very well why Alpha might think the other fragments would look like him, but Delta had a pretty good idea that Tex looked pretty different from him, and she was as much his sister as Epsilon was his brother.
cobaltblue: (so what you're saying is)

"...Huh. So you just got here this month, then? How's the whole human body thing working out for you?" Church had really lucked out in that respect, in a sense, since he remembered being in a human body and had transitioned to living in one easily. Then there were other AIs like that Wally guy who'd had to learn how to put one foot in front of the other. Delta looked like he was doing okay, though.
alaspooryork: (unarmored: oh i see)

"This is correct."

He pauses a bit in response to the next question. Apparently the workings of a human body had been buried in his psyche enough that he'd adjusted after the first few days, but there was still a lot to get used to.

"It has been interesting. I do not believe I care for it."
logicunlocked: (Let's think this through)

That is a detail Delta hadn't shared with him, though come to think of it, he hadn't even asked. He should have been more sensitive to that. That was something that they'd both needed to get used to—communicating verbally instead of simply knowing what the other was thinking.

"He's had a lot to get used to, I guess. Like him and me, we're still getting used to saying everything out loud instead of just thinking at one another."

"Yeah, I bet." He'd only known what that felt like for a few minutes, when he was with Wash, but for someone like Delta where that was normal, not having that kind of connection with someone's thoughts had to be weird. "Having a human body's awesome, though, you just need to get used to it. Well, except for the parts that suck, like getting hungry, or tired, or hungover. I guess that's all pretty shitty."
alaspooryork: (unarmored: are you jesting)

'Weird' was a bit of an understatement. 'Terribly lonely' would be closer to the truth, although it was a great comfort to have York here with him instead of, say, South or Caboose.

"I hope it will not take overly long to become accustomed to the experience. The limitations seem severe to me, but perhaps once the immediate crisis has been resolved there will be an opportunity to enjoy other potential aspects."

Being hungover probably wasn't fun, but Delta did admit a certain curiosity to being drunk in the first place.

Aspects which the two of them had discussed in some detail. Still, York knew Delta was having his difficulties in getting used to the situation.

"I guess being human is all about knowing your limitations, in some ways. Or learning them, as the case may be."
cobaltblue: (phone goin' off)

[personal profile] cobaltblue 2013-04-25 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Pfft. No, if that's all being human was, I'd be trying a lot harder to find some way to get my old body back. Besides. Even if I had that, I think I'd still qualify as human, anyway. You know, mentally." Now, what being human was, he didn't really care to guess. There were days when philosophical moods struck him, but now was not the time.

Delta snorted lightly. Whether or not someone 'qualified' as human based on their thought process was entirely ridiculous considering the origins of smart AI to begin with. Still, he wasn't in the mood to argue that, since he was fairly certain Church's position was as stubborn as possible.

"By the same token, I am anything but. However, as I have no choice in the matter, I will adjust in time."

And then he smiled at the both of them, albeit a little shyly.

"In any case, I am in good company."

He rapped Delta on the shoulder with a grin. "Couldn't ask for better, on both accounts."

"Yeah, I guess. Look, I'm gonna go find Tex. Good luck with the new body, Delta."
alaspooryork: (unarmored: i do care)

Delta smiled at Church, nodding his head a little.

"Thank you, Church. It is a pleasure to see you as well. Good luck to you also."
