Camping may not be an expected activity on a spaceship, but the gardens are large and have clear, grassy areas for people to gather together. You can help set up tents, inventory supplies or guard the perimeter — just keep an eye out for any strange faces trying to sneak in...

While he has never forgotten how old his father is (..because he's never actually known exactly how old his father is), it's still unnerving to be reminded of it. And it's reliving to see it fall away, as if it was never there. Mildly relieving.

"Will you?" Mother isn't here to heckle them, and Thranduil won't heckle himself. Legolas isn't heckling, though. "When you need to."

He's just.. nudging. With a mildly mollified smile and a pile of fruit that Thranduil clearly would not eat all of in a single sitting.

"I will if you will." Thranduil bites into the plum, his eyes never leaving his son.

"I have already." He hasn't. But, assured now that his father is eating, he picks up an apricot and sets about cutting slices from it with his knife.

[elvenking]

A raised eyebrow as Legolas eats despite having "already eaten." But he says nothing, since Legolas is eating now. Thranduil sits back against the tree and allows his eyes to fall to the grass as he chews thoughtfully.

Once Legolas has eaten most of the apricot, he speaks again. "Jim Kirk and I have collaborated on a mission. I would like you to take part in the scouting party to find the Scylla."

A little more food never hurts. It's just one apricot. He'll have more to eat later, when he's out of sight.

He looks up when Thranduil speaks again. The first thing that goes through his mind is but I have duties in the gardens, which is quickly and quite thoroughly swamped by the instinctive and immediate-- "Yes, of course. When?"

"Soon. I will tell you when there is more to tell."

"As usual?" A flicker of a smile.

[elvenking]

"As always. Once we have them found, we can trap them like rats. Then, they may be more willing to consider negotiations."

Rats. That's a very nice image.

"I will wait for your word, then. I take it there will be others involved as well?"

[elvenking]

"Quite a few others. Kirk and I are both gathering them."

[tofindthesun]

Nods, briefly.

"I hope both of your choices can cooperate with one another. Or learn to, at any rate."

[elvenking]

"Trust us a little, Legolas."

[tofindthesun]

"I trust you very much, father." He's not laughing no. Surely he's trying not to laugh. "Is there anything else we must speak of?"

[elvenking]

"You are free to do as you like, of course. So long as you're eating while you do it."

He makes an indignant sound, but rises anyway to give Thranduil a quick hug before skedaddling off with the apple.
